1Friends and Enemies
The brightest and best musketeers of the King's Regiment - Athos, Porthos and Aramis - are dispatched by Captain Treville to find a missing musketeer carrying important letters on behalf of King Louis. Meanwhile, d'Artagnan travels from his family farm in Gascony to Paris to petition the king, but his peaceful plans are turned upside down.
2Sleight of Hand
D'Artagnan is arrested for illegal duelling, though this is a ploy to have him share the same prison cell as anarchist republican Vadim and discover what Vadim has done with several stolen barrels of gunpowder. The pair escape together but Vadim's henchman Felix is unconvinced of D'Artagnan's loyalty to them so D'Artagnan sends a message to the musketeers through Constance to reveal Vadim's plan to kill the king and queen when they attend mass at Notre Dame. Vadim quickly exposes the youngster as a spy and points out that he was fed false information as to Vadim's real intention. Chained to the barrels of explosives in the cellar D'Artagnan must free himself to help his friends stop Vadim.

4The Good Soldier
The Duke of Savoy and his wife, the king's sister, arrive in Paris at the same time as Marsac, a former musketeer, now a deserter, seeks Aramis's help after an abortive attempt on the duke's life. Marsac's troops were massacred as they slept whilst on a mission to depose the duke and Marsac's informant tells him they were betrayed to the duke by Captain Treville, the leader of the musketeers. Aramis discovers that all records of the night of the massacre have disappeared whilst the duke suspects that Richelieu was behind it and has located a Spanish spy who can prove it. The musketeers must prevent the duke from starting a war with France as well as proving their captain's innocence.
5The Homecoming
After a night of heavy drinking to celebrate his birthday Porthos wakes in the street next to a corpse, with no recall of events. He is arrested and sentenced to hang but rescued by boyhood friend Charon and taken to the Court of Miracles, a sanctuary for law-breakers. The other musketeers identify the dead man as Jean De Mauvoisin but find that he was killed some distance from where his body was found. It becomes apparent that Jean's father, in league with Charon, was planning to blow up the Court of Miracles for financial gain and Jean was silenced when he found out. With dozens of barrels of gunpowder installed at the court the musketeers must prevent a massacre as well as clearing Porthos's name.
6The Exiles
King Louis's treacherous mother, the exiled Marie de' Medici, returns to seek protection from an assassin. Aramis and d'Artagnan sent to collect a young woman, Agnes, and her baby son are stunned when armed men abduct the baby and the musketeers seek to find the baby and uncover who they were sent to escort.
7A Rebellious Woman
Richelieu receives Luca Sestini, a Jesuit priest sent by the pope in Rome to try and persuade Richelieu to end the French alliance with Protestant Sweden. At the same time Countess Ninon De Larroque incurs Richelieu's displeasure when she advocates education for women of all classes. Ninon is wealthy and Richelieu wants some of that wealth for the ailing royal coffers so he sends Milady to infiltrate her salon. Ninon is arrested and charged with witchcraft - spiriting young girls away to her cause - and, due to Milady's lies is found guilty. Richelieu is poisoned but, as Ninon's execution is prepared, the musketeers discover the identity of the poisoner and, in what passes for gratitude, Richelieu seals a bargain with the newly freed Ninon.
8The Challenge
LaBarge, a local superintendent, is arrested for killing two musketeers. Our friends are tasked to bring him safely to Paris. The Red Guards, who are tired of the Musketeers the treatment of LaBarge provoke a confrontation between the two regiments. King, who is tired this rivalry, is organizing a competition to determine once and for all which of the two regiments that are strongest. D'Artagnan takes on the challenge - but needs to work on himself that his temper should not go to his head - to show that he mastered the art of battle.
9Knight Takes Queen
Frustrated by his wife's infertility Louis makes a foolish statement, suggesting it were best if she were dead. As a result Richelieu sends Irish gunman Gallagher and his gang to kill her while she is travelling with the musketeers. Sending their friends back for reinforcements Aramis and Athos take her to a convent for sanctuary, where Aramis is surprised to see his former love, Helene is one of the nuns though she and the Mother Superior prove themselves very capable in the subsequent siege. However it is with the queen that Aramis grows intimate, to Athos's horror. The siege is lifted, the queen saved and the king contrite whilst Richelieu manages to frame somebody else for the assassination attempt.
10Musketeers Don't Die Easily
Whilst Charlotte Mellendorf, daughter of the man Richelieu and Milady framed for the attempt to kill Queen Anne, persuades the king that he was unjustly accused Athos publicly arrests Milady, claiming that she is a traitor and a spy for the cardinal. She is released and instructed by Richelieu to kill the musketeers before they can tell the king the truth and, as well as bringing in Sarazin, an old friend and assassin, she contrives to turn the musketeers against each other, though she is unaware that the supposed rift, culminating in Athos's fake death at the hands of D'Artagnan, is a ploy to trap her. She abducts Constance but the musketeers mount a rescue attempt before telling the court the true culprits in the attempt on the queen's life. Mellendorf is released and Anne announces that she is pregnant, Aramis being the first to congratulate her.
1Keep Your Friends Close
After the death of Richelieu the musketeers rescue one of his spies, Rochefort, from a lynch mob and take him to see the king. He explains that he has escaped from a Spanish jail but that the French general De Foix and his sister are still prisoners and asks that the musketeers help him free them. The mission is accomplished and Rochefort is appointed as Richelieu's successor - but can he be trusted? Meanwhile Queen Anne, having recently given birth to a son, appoints Constance as her confidante.
2An Ordinary Man
After the king has foolishly expressed a wish to experience life as a commoner the musketeers take him to a tavern, where, after he has caused a fight, he and D'Artagnan are captured by the notorious criminal Simon Lemaitre, to be sold as Spanish galley slaves. With the Dauphin's christening imminent the musketeers are ordered to save them whilst Rochefort, taking advantage of her husband's absence, persuades the queen to write a letter asking for assistance from Spain. The musketeers rout the slavers whilst the king and D'Artagnan are freed by one of the gang - Milady De Winter, who has her own reasons, plus a ring stolen from the king, who is as graceless as before, whilst Rochefort keeps the queen's letter for possible further use.
3The Good Traitor
Moroccan Tariq Alaman approaches the court with the offer of the formula for a super-strong explosive if the musketeers will help him rescue his daughter Samara from Spanish agents who want the formula themselves. The rescue attempt is bungled with several innocent bystanders being killed and the wounded Porthos also taken captive. Under cover of seeming to deliver Tariq to the Spaniards the musketeers attempt a second rescue bid with mixed results. Meanwhile the dauphin is ill and both Milady and Rochefort attempt to exploit the situation but it is Constance who takes matters into her own hands to save the baby's life.
4Emilie
Claiming to be inspired by divine visions Emilie of Duras declares the Spanish king to be the devil in disguise and gathers a large army of peasants prepared to invade his country. Spaniards are being murdered in the streets and Treville is concerned that this will give Spain an excuse to invade. Aramis goes undercover as a supposed disciple of Emilie and discovers the source of her visions. As a result the musketeers are in a position to halt her crusade and prevent further carnage. Meanwhile Rochefort, aware that Milady de Winter is the foolish king's mistress, uses her past misdeeds to blackmail her into working for him.
5The Return
When Athos is kidnapped and taken back to his estate of Pinon, the Musketeers go in search of him. They...
6Through a Glass Darkly
Astronomer Marmion invites the Royal household, along with Constance, Rochefort and the musketeers, with the exception of Athos, to his château to watch a solar eclipse. Once they are inside he and his men take them all hostage, chaining Porthos and Rochefort in the dungeons and deciding who lives and who dies by the spin of a coin. Milady manages to escape and rides to Paris to fetch help whilst Porthos and Rochefort eventually free themselves. Whilst Marmion is explaining his hatred of the monarchy and reason for his actions the rescuers get in place to save the survivors.
7A Marriage of Inconvenience
On her way to marry the crown prince of Sweden, princess Louise of Mantua, the king's cousin, is attacked by would-be kidnappers who are killed the musketeers. The attackers were paid in Spanish gold but Rochefort has had a hand in the operation. Louise is brought to Paris for her own safety but another attempt is made on her life and the musketeers link the weaponry used to Rochefort. Ultimately they are more concerned with the princess herself, who may not be what she seems, whilst Rochefort is suspicious of Aramis's relationship with the queen and Constance's husband is a casualty in a shoot out.
8The Prodigal Father
Accompanied by Aramis Porthos seeks out the reclusive Marquis Belgard whom Treville has told him is his natural father. Belgard's cold daughter Eleanor and her sadistic husband Levesque are not welcoming, trying to bribe Porthos to leave though Belgard tells Porthos he was born to a servant girl Belgard loved but taken as a child to join the musketeers. In the meantime the musketeers rescue young women the Levesques have abducted to work in a brothel, seemingly unknown to Belgard, who hates Levesque and asks Porthos to kill him. Following a shoot-out Porths discovers why Belgard and Treville hate each other and where his loyalties lie whilst in Paris the recently bereaved Constance agrees to keep a secret for the queen. Rochefort, on the other hand, determines to expose her indiscretion with Aramis.
9The Accused
Queen Anne is about to tell her husband that Rochefort has thrown himself at her but Rochefort counters by presenting the susceptible king with a letter Anne wrote in good faith some months earlier to her brother, the Spanish king, and claiming it constitutes treason. Matters are not helped by the fact that Rochefort knows about Aramis's fling with the queen though Rochefort makes the mistake of antagonizing Milady, who tells the musketeers that he is a Spanish spy and helps them get Anne to safety in a convent. The increasingly deranged Rochefort forces the royal nanny Marguerite to frame Constance and the worthy Dr Lemay for poisoning the king and they are arrested. The musketeers form a plot to trap Rochefort but on return to Paris they, along with the queen, are apprehended.
10Trial and Punishment
D'Artagnan and Athos escape and rescue Constance from execution, joining Porthos to capture Vargas, Rochefort's Spanish contact. In Paris Aramis stands trial for adultery with the queen and is imprisoned but freed by Milady, who takes him to join the others. They bring Vargas to the palace to tell the king the truth and Rochefort is finally cornered. Will he meet a suitable end or will he evade justice one more time?
1Spoils of War
Athos, Porthos and d'Artagnan have been at war, while Aramis has been at the monastery caring for the children left orphaned. Missing munitions brings the three to the monastery where the bad guys have taken refuge. As they scheme to stop the stolen munitions from being sold to the Spanish and save the Monks and the children, Aramis is forced back into battle and has to decide where he truly belongs.
2The Hunger
Refugees from the war are targeted by Feron for stealing grain in a plot to force the King to pay a higher price to feed the citizens of Paris. The Musketeers must work with one of them, Sylvie, to prove their innocence. |
3Brothers in Arms
King Louis orders the Musketeers to bring his exiled brother, the Duke of Orléans, back to Paris. On the way, the Duke gets robbed of dangerous letters which could destroy Orléans. The Duke informs the corrupt Governor of this, and the Governor's Red Guard must race the Musketeers in the hunt for the thief.
4The Queen's Diamonds
On her journey to Paris the queen of England, Henrietta Maria, also the sister of King Louis is robbed of the crown jewels, which has to be sold in order to finance England's armed forces. The Musketeers quickly discover the thief to be Émile Bonnaire, a flamboyant but pathetic criminal they encountered previously. Athos, Porthos and D'Artagnan pressure Bonnaire into leading them to the diamonds' buyers to recover them. Aramis on the other hand, reconnects with Pauline, a childhood friend he grew up with in a bordel where their mothers lived and worked. She is set to marry a French nobleman but is being blackmailed by someone threatening to reveal the circumstances of her childhood, and Aramis tries to resolve the situation peacefully.
5To Play the King
The musketeers join the Red Guard in controlling a mass prison break, unaware that it has been engineered by Feron and Grimaud to spring petty thief and locksmith Victor Joubert whom they intend to coerce into robbing the treasury or else they will kill his blind wife Annabelle. The musketeers save Annabelle and thwart the heist but D'Artagnan has unwittingly helped another escapee, Borel, a madman who believes himself to be the rightful monarch, and whom the musketeers must prevent from killing the queen.
6Death of a Hero
Feron forges a letter supposedly from Treville sending the four musketeers on an errand, intending that they will be murdered on the way but before they set out Athos survives an attempt on his life by Grimaud, who also springs Gaston from jail, whilst the king asks Aramis to accompany him on a pilgrimage to his father's grave. On their own Porthos and D'artagnan must weather an attack until their comrades rescue them after which the normally obtuse king, having realized the Dauphin's parentage, nonetheless joins with Aramis and the other musketeers to defeat his would-be killers, including Feron. However Grimaud escapes with Gaston, whom he intends to crown king as he believes Louis to be terminally ill.
7Fool's Gold
The musketeers pursue Grimaud and find themselves in a forest community peopled by women, led by the fearsome Juliette, who have also taken in the wounded Bastien, whom the musketeers identify as an army deserter. When other, disaffected ex-soldiers lay siege to the village the musketeers defeat them, learning what their attackers were seeking whilst Athos discovers a link between one of the women and Grimaud. In Paris, following Feron's death, the king and queen get closer.
8Prisoners of War
With the king taking to his bed as dying the queen asks Aramis to help broker a peace treaty with her brother, the Spanish king and he sets out to meet the ambassador but is captured by Grimaud. The court then receives an ultimatum - the return of Aramis in exchange for captured Spanish soldiers, a ploy engineered by Grimaud, Gaston and the Duke of Lorraine to discredit the queen as an appeaser. Facing popular acrimony the other musketeers have the prisoners released and set out for the rendezvous, along with D'Artagnan's cousin Espoir, whom he has saved from the gallows and acquits himself well in the gun-battle. Aramis is freed but Grimaud escapes to use the queen's sponsorship of a literacy scheme for the poor against her and Athos's new love Sylvie whilst an old enemy of the musketeers returns to the court.
9The Prize
When the king dies of tuberculosis the appointed regent Treville sends the dauphin into hiding with Constance to protect him from the rebel armies of Gaston and Lorraine, gathering outside Paris, along with Grimaud, who plans to take over the Red Guard. To avoid bloodshed Gaston is pardoned and given property in Paris much to the queen's annoyance. However he is not satisfied and whilst the honourable Lorraine agrees to a pact with Treville, leading to Gaston's arrest, the musketeers must foil Grimaud's attempt to kidnap the dauphin - and avenge the murder of a good friend.
10We Are the Garrison
Following Treville's funeral the musketeers survive an attempt by Grimaud to kill them when their garrison is torched, leaving many casualties, and gunpowder and weapons stolen. To lure the musketeers into a trap Grimaud takes hostages including Sylvie but the four comrades stage a rescue, and the queen and Dauphin are restored to the palace with Milady as the royal spy master, her first task being to take care of Gaston. However the mortally wounded Grimaud escapes and the musketeers must stop him from blowing up the city with the stolen gunpowder.
