1The Bank Job
With the mental strain of his telepathic abilities taking its toll, Toby (Craig Olejnik) has vowed to ignore them and live a normal life. Especially since Dr. Olivia Fawcett (Mylène Dinh-Robic) has warned him that his life depends on it. But his good intentions are thrown into question when he finds himself in a very bad situation - taken hostage by violent robbers during a bank heist. Realizing that the only way to ensure the safety of the other hostages is to risk his, Toby takes some bold action. And while his decisions also help Sgt. Michelle McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith) with a major investigation, they land him in another precarious situation when she's forced to tell her boss Alvin Klein (Peter Stebbings) about Toby's mysterious insights.
2Cold Case Blues
When the body of a lawyer missing for almost a decade is discovered in a building, Toby (Craig Olejnik) is called in to work on his first IIB case. Already nervous, the pressure is on when he learns that his new boss, Alvin Klein, (Peter Stebbings) is still suspicious of his value and telepathic abilities, and has a personal connection to the dead lawyer. Toby joins Sgt. McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith) as she interviews people of interest and the prime suspect, James McCallan (Christopher Bolton), a vicious drug dealer. Moving between official - and the occasional off-the-grid - investigative technique, Toby tries to make sense of the barrage of images he's receiving so he can prove to his peers, and himself, that he should be working for the IIB.
3Curtain Call
After a member of a superstar performer's crew is electrocuted by a microphone, Toby finds himself amidst the entourage of Jade (Fefe Dobson), one of pop music's most popular and innovative performers. When Sgt. McCluskey (Lauren Lee Smith) and Dev (Rainbow Sun Francks) ascertain the tampered mic was intended for Jade, they have to act quickly to ensure no further tragedies. But Jade's reputation as a relentless perfectionist and taskmaster leaves a number of potential suspects. While the IIB team races against the clock to apprehend the killer, Toby accompanies Jade to a club show and public appearance. Using both his intuition and charm, he finds a way to break through her steely façade and gets insights into her rocky past. It's a start to solving the crime, but unfortunately, it may not be enough.
4The Taking
Toby (Craig Olejnik) and Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) investigate the abduction of an African teenager whose driver/bodyguard, Kwesi (K.C. Collins), was shot during the altercation. The case is nuanced and far reaching because the victim, Ibrahim Ayim (Stephan James), is the son of Abassi Ayim (Eugene Clark), a deposed Liberian politician accused of defrauding his country of millions and committing a slew of atrocities. Toby has trouble getting solid insights since Abassi is cold and calculating and his bodyguard, Rafiq (Conrad Coates), keeps him at bay. The IIB team finds a promising lead with Dennis Harwell (David Richmond-Peck), an outspoken political blogger whose agenda is to ruin Abassi for his litany of crimes. Harwell's motive is clearly personal, but so are the motives of the other suspects: Ibrahim's estranged mother Reta (Yanna McIntosh), Habisi (Michael Kinney), who runs a Liberian social club, and even potentially Rafiq. When the kidnappers send Ibrahim's severed finger to prove the temerity of their ten million dollar ransom demand, Michelle puts the pressure on Toby to make sense of the barrage of violent images he's seeing.
5Rogues' Gallery
At a swanky hotel bar, Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) intercepts Luke "Manny" Manson (Chad Faust), a renowned art thief she's been pursing for years. His return to Toronto can only mean he's involved in an upcoming heist and she plans to use his capture to the IIB's advantage - to smash a huge international theft ring. Though he utters some serious threats, she manages to arrest him without incident. Toby (Craig Olejnik) and Oz (Ennis Esmer) are checking out of the EMS station for the day. Oz is amped to be assigned acting supervisor but quickly finds himself in over his head after a patient accuses the paramedics of theft. With Klein's (Peter Stebbings) consent and Dev's (Rainbow Sun Francks) assistance, Michelle goes undercover as a security specialist for Manny's crew. But since it's a dangerous undertaking, and she won't be wearing a wire, she enlists Toby's telepathy for protection.
6She Sells Sanctuary
When a third young woman is snatched from a bus stop on the outskirts of the city, the IIB takes over for Metro. With a cult-like religious order in the area, and the most recent victim a member, Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) and Toby (Craig Olejnik) visit the commune to meet with its leader Mitch Deerfoot (John Ralston). The disgraced philosophy professor tours them around the compound and explains members are chaste and shun modernity. Michelle thinks the set up is extremely creepy, but Toby finds a calming connection to the dazzling, colourful thought patterns of the followers. Meanwhile, Oz (Ennis Esmer) is unsettled when he gets a new shift partner, the very attractive and attentive Elyse (Rachel Skarsten). He soon finds himself questioning his one-sided commitment to his girlfriend Sandy, who's working in Africa. As Toby and Michelle pursue leads, a few people of interest emerge including Deerfoot, a man who is stalking cult members, and a convicted rapist. When Fawn (Katie Boland), another young cult member, is found bound and hysterical near the compound, the investigation takes another twist. And Toby discovers that his visions make it unclear if the women have been targeted for trying to get away from the cult or wanting to return.
7Poisoned Minds
At the hospital, Oz (Ennis Esmer) and Elyse (Rachel Skarsten) are immersed in their new flirtation game, as Toby (Craig Olejnik) arrives to meet Oz to go watch hockey. Oz quietly admits to Toby that he's ready to move on, and possibly with Elyse, when Sandy (Tara Spencer-Nairn) surprises him. She's back early from Africa and can't wait to catch up. At a swanky dinner, a small group of pharmaceutical executives are celebrating a record-breaking year while outside irate protesters assemble. CEO Jeffrey Brandt (Judah Katz) toasts their success, but the self-congratulatory speech is hijacked by Harold Kalb (Dion Johnstone) - a protester disguised as a waiter. Kalb disrupts the proceedings in a rage. As Brandt calls for security, he suddenly collapses followed in succession by other guests. With Brandt now dead, and five others very ill, Toby, Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) and Klein (Peter Stebbings) discover additional casualties. Apparently, the drug they were lauding was responsible for at least four patient's deaths. And with the pharma victims intentionally poisoned, it appears vengeance is the motive.
8Now You See Him
After criminal mastermind Magnus Elphrenson (Peter Outerbridge) pulls off an elaborate escape from prison, Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith), Toby (Craig Olejnik) and the other IIB members are immediately on the case. Given the difficulty of staying ahead of the nefarious genius, who is rumoured to have a cache of millions, time is extremely limited. With Gregory Harrow (Kristopher Turner), the man who raped and murdered his daughter, now dead, staying one step ahead of Magnus' plans is a challenge. Even Toby struggles for clarity on the man's thoughts. When Magnus leaves an ominous note for Michelle stating that he's planning vengeance, the team must battle against a possible conspiracy to figure out the target of his wrath.
9Crossed
The IIB crew arrives at a downtown parking garage after Franca Burrows (Emily Bartlett), a wealthy philanthropist, is murdered. Society born, she parlayed her family fortune into a business empire and also married well, to entrepreneur Kyle Burrows (Corey Sevier). Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) and Klein (Peter Stebbings) quickly hone in on their suspects including Franca's lover Thomas Szabo (Tim Fellingham), her business partner Lucy Estevez (Grace Kung) and Kyle, a man with a violent temper. Though the husband's alibi checks out, Toby's (Craig Olejnik) telepathic flashes during their interrogation suggest otherwise and he insists they pursue him. Pointing to the evidence, Michelle overrides his request and voices her doubts about his telepathic insights. Oz (Ennis Esmer) fantasizes about impossible-to-get Grey Cup tickets, but when he intercepts an emergency with football legend Glen Suitor, his dream suddenly seems within reach. Meanwhile, Toby is being pursued by Tia Tremblay (Melanie Scrofano), a persistent journalist with suspicions about his undocumented work for the IIB. Claiming she has information that could help crack the case, Toby surreptitiously meets with her. Unable to read her at all, he also underestimates the consequences of their conversation and is completely blind-sided when Klein suspends him from the special ops team.
10Lockdown
At the hospital, Toby and Olivia share a romantic interlude before he has to leave for the IIB. Moments after his departure, Oz rushes in with a critically ill patient. Two other men stagger in with similar symptoms, bleeding from the nose and eyes and ranting about someone trying to kill them. Sandy jumps in to assist with the triage. When one of the men goes into spasms, they lose him. Stunned by the bizarre event, Olivia immediately orders the hospital be locked down. A decontamination unit is assembled as Dr. Julian Hennessey from public health, and Dr. Marette, a biomed scientist, confer with Olivia, confirming it seems like an outbreak of hemorrhagic fever. She immediately calls Toby to alert him of the situation and possible symptoms in case he was infected. Michelle and Dev pursue intel on the dead man to see if they can help track patient zero. Toby races to the hospital to see if he can get any reads from the other patient, but he's too sick to offer answers. Meanwhile, Oz, Sandy and Olivia must contend with other emergency patients being afflicted. And when drops of blood leak through Olivia's surgical mask, it appears that the doctor has become a patient, too.
11Captain Nightfall
With Toby (Craig Olejnik) grieving Olivia's death, Oz (Ennis Esmer) tries to shift focus by asking about his current case - a string of violent home invasions that have left citizens on edge. Meanwhile, when a curious neighbor tries to thwart another robbery, he's confronted and beaten by the masked thieves only to be rescued when a third man intervenes before disappearing in a cloud of smoke. At the hospital, Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) and Toby talk to the victim, who doesn't remember much. Toby concentrates and is surprised to see visions of the third man wearing a superhero outfit. Anxious to placate the terrified public, Klein (Peter Stebbings) presses Michelle, Dev (Rainbow Sun Francks) and Toby to find a connection between the crimes. As Toby searches the mug shot database for a match on the victim's visions of his assailant, Michelle discovers the homeowners were all supposed to be vacationing when the break-ins occurred. Toby contacts reporter Tia Tremblay (Melanie Scrofano) and learns there have been reports of a costumed guy roaming around town. With the help of Oz and the other on-duty EMTs, Toby gets a location for the mystery man. When they arrive on scene, their supposed superhero is badly beaten and stumbling. But before collapsing, he identifies himself as Captain Nightfall.
12The Bro Code
Oz's (Ennis Esmer) celebratory mood after completing his supervisor training program proves short lived when he's visited by a troubled childhood friend with a serious problem. Tommy Nordett (Jonny Harris) witnessed a murder and now fears the killer is after him too. Oz agrees to help him if he talks to Toby (Craig Olejnik), who confirms his story is true. With Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) and Dev's (Rainbow Sun Francks) assistance, Toby investigates the unreported crime, which leads them to Xavier Barkin (Fulvio Cecere), a well-known bookie with a penchant for evading conviction. While Klein is angered that IIB resources were enlisted to help Oz's sketchy buddy, he's interested in the Barkin connection, which soon spins out into another betting ring run by rogue associates with itchy trigger fingers. And it quickly becomes apparent to Toby that by helping Tommy, his incredibly loyal best friend Oz has put his own life in danger.
13The Shooting
After Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) gets an anonymous tip about Matt Morganstern (Dean Copkov), a ruthless counterfeiter who's long evaded the IIB, she and Toby (Craig Olejnik) go on a wild pursuit. Assuming he's armed when she finally corners him on a fire escape, it's shoot or be shot as he reaches into his jacket. She fires first, killing him and setting in motion an investigation that uncovers some uncomfortable truths. Meanwhile, Sandy (Tara Spencer-Nairn) convinces Oz (Ennis Esmer) to apply for the hospital emergency coordinator vacancy. Initially uncertain and afraid of change, he realizes the promotion would be a great boost to his career and love life. Back at the IIB, even Klein (Peter Stebbings) is surprised by some of the evidence put forward by Special Investigations Staff Sergeants Slater (Matthew Bennett) and McCoy (Zoie Palmer). Michelle is resigned to facing her accusers, but is shocked when she realizes someone with a vendetta is out to destroy her career.
