1Genesis: Part 1 - September 13, 1956
Although the Project Quantum Leap isn't ready yet, Sam Beckett doesn't listen to supercomputer Ziggy, hops into the Accelerator and leaps. As Tom Stratton, an Air Force test pilot about to attempt a dangerous flight. Sam finds his memory Swiss cheesed, with only enough left to know that he is not where or when he belongs. According to Sam's friend and partner Al, who appears to him as a hologram nobody else can see, Al explains that the Project has gone awry and in order to leap out of the pilot's body, Sam must successfully fly the X-2 to Mach 3, which according to historical records, ended in a fatal crash.

At a small Ohio college, Sam Beckett is a literature professor who must discourage the amorous advances of a student and finds the woman who left him at the altar. Sam hopes that resolving her conflicts with her father will prevent her from deserting him.
4The Right Hand of God - October 24, 1974
Sam Beckett leaps into the body of a boxer who has a shot a winning the championship. The man's contract is owned by local nuns who inherited his rights from a boxing promoter and their hope is that they could make enough money to build a chapel and drop-in center for the poor. What they don't know is that the boxer's 10 bout winning streak is the result of fixed matches and an unscrupulous boxing promoter now wants him to take in dive in the championship bout. Sam comes up with a clever solution that he hopes will satisfy all parties.
5How the Tess Was Won - August 5, 1956
Sam leaps into the body of a Texas veterinarian, Dr. Daniel Young who carries a torch for a local ranch owner's daughter, Tess McGill. She has a stubborn streak and refuses to marry any man who is unable to out-ranch her. She makes a bet with her Dad that she will give Young one week to prove he can be a better rancher than she is and if he does, she will marry him. Young's helper at the veterinary practice, Buddy, proves to be a bit of a surprise.

Sam leaps into the body of an elderly black man, Jesse Tyler, in the US South. It's 1955 and racism is institutionalized. Not realizing initially that he is black, Sam commits a major error when he takes a seat in the local diner, raising the ire of a couple of local rednecks. Sam learns that Jesse is chauffeur to Miss Melny Trafford, a highly respected local citizen. The US civil rights movement has yet to begin, but Sam decides he's going to take action.
8Camikazi Kid - June 6, 1961
It's 1961 and Sam leaps into the body of a gawky, pimple-faced teenager, Cam Wilson. His older sister Cheryl represents many of the ideals of the times and is thrilled when she and her fianc? are accepted into the Peace Corps and are headed for Tonga. The fianc?, Bob Thompson, is the problem however and Sam's job is to make sure they don't get married. Bob has no plans to go to Tonga and has actually accepted a partnership in his father's car dealership. He's also a bit of a brute and has already been violent toward Cheryl. Cam tries to expose Bob for what he is by challenging him to a car race.
9Play It Again, Seymour - April 14, 1953
It's the early 1950s an Sam has leaped into the body of a New York City private detective, Nick Allen. Apart from the fact that Allen bears a striking resemblance to Humphrey Bogart, Sam feels that he has leaped into a cheap pulp novel, something that proves to be all too accurate when he realizes he knows the story and is constantly having a sense of d?j? vu. With his partner murdered, Sam has to not only find the murderer but launch the career of a prospective writer.
1Honeymoon Express - April 26, 1960
In April 1960 Sam leaps into the body of a New York City police detective, Tom McBride, who is traveling with his new bride Diane on the Honeymoon Express, the train from New York to Niagara Falls. He soon realizes that Diane's violent ex-husband is stalking her and that he has every intention of murdering them. Meanwhile, Adm. Al Calavicci finds himself before a very skeptical Senate committee reviewing the project's budget. What they don't realize is that Sam's trip on the train and the Senate investigation are definitely linked.

3The Americanization of Machiko - August 4, 1953
Sam has to deal with racism in 1950's America when he leaps into the body of a young U.S. Navy sailor, Charlie Mackenzie, who returns home to his small mid-western town with his new Japanese bride, Machiko. Not surprisingly, there is a World War II veteran who hates the Japanese and blames the war for ruining his promising professional baseball career. The biggest opposition however comes from his own mother who simply will not accept the young woman into her home. As Sam learns, Charlie's mother is still grieving from the loss of her daughter over a year ago and feels terrible guilt at never having reconciled with her before her death.
4What Price Gloria? - October 16, 1961
Sam leaps into the body of an attractive secretary, Samantha Stormer. It's 1961 and a woman's place in the world, and at the office, is set in stone. She soon finds that her promotion was because her lecherous boss, Buddy Wright, had his eye on her and is hoping to have a fling. Buddy is married but is also having an affair with Samantha's roommate, Gloria. He's promised her that he will soon leave his wife but Sam knows that unless he can convince her to break off the affair, it will only lead to heartbreak and her eventual suicide.
5Blind Faith - February 6, 1964
On the eve of the Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, Sam has more than a few butterflies in his stomach when he leaps into a blind concert pianist, Andrew Ross. His girlfriend, Michelle Stevens is a meek young woman who still lives at home with her domineering mother. Sam learns from Al that unless something is done, Michelle will become the fourth victim of the Central Park Strangler. Sam has a plan to save her, but his immediate concern is just how he is going to perform a scheduled concert at Carnegie Hall.
6Good Morning, Peoria - September 9, 1959
Sam leaps into the body of Chick Howell, a rock and roll DJ for radio station WOF. It's 1959 and there is a growing backlash against this new form of music. Station owner and manager Rachel Porter is determined to become the #1 radio station in Peoria but one of her main clients has withdrawn all of his advertising and is urging others to do so. He even gets the town council to pass an ordinance banning rock and roll music from the airwaves. Sam and Rachel barricade themselves in the radio station and vow to fight for what Sam sees as a free speech issue. He also gets to show Chubby Checker the twist!
7Thou Shalt Not... - February 2, 1974
Sam leaps into the body of Rabbi David Bosch and his mission this time around is to mend relations between his brother Joe and his sister-in-law Irene. Their marriage soured when their son Danny died in an accident and Joe blames his wife. Al's information is that Irene will have an affair in the next 36 hours that will tear the marriage apart. The only problem is that Sam thinks Rabbi David is the man she's supposed to have the affair with. He sets out to try and mend their relationship but also has to deal with Bert Glasserman, the local community Lothario.
8Jimmy - October 14, 1964
Sam leaps into the body of Jimmy LaMotta a mentally disabled man, with the IQ of a 12 year-old, who has recently moved in with his brother Frank and his family. It's 1964 and there is little tolerance for integrating men like Jimmy into mainstream society. At home, Jimmy's sister-in-law is worried having him around, particularly the effect he may be having on their son. Jimmy manages to get a job on the docks with his brother but faces a great deal of prejudice from some fellow workers, particularly from a man named Blue. Blue has a secret of his own, however.
9So Help Me God - July 29, 1957
Sam leaps into the body of defense attorney Leonard Dancey just as he is about to enter a plea on behalf of Lila Berry, who is charged with murder. It appears that a plea bargain had already been agreed to but when Sam asks Lila if she did it, she refuses to answer him so he enters a not guilty plea. The sudden change doesn't sit well with the DA and also with Captain Cotter, the most influential man in town and the dead man's father. It's 1957 Mississippi and Sam is appalled at the attitudes toward his client, an African-American. The all-white jury is certain to convict unless he can get Lila to tell him exactly what happened, but she is obviously protecting someone.
10Catch a Falling Star - May 21, 1979
Sam leaps into the body of Ray Hutton, a working actor in the touring company of Man of La Mancha. He's the understudy to a renowned actor, John O'Malley, who's a bit of lush. His task is to keep the man from suffering a tragic fall during an upcoming performance. Sam is distracted when he sees his first love, Nicole, his one-time piano teacher. Although only 15 years old at the time - and she 25 - Sam adored her. She also at one time had a relationship with Ray Hutton and Sam is having difficulty differentiating between the two.
11A Portrait for Troian - February 7, 1971
Sam leaps into the body of Dr. Timothy Mintz, a parapsychologist who who is working with Troin Claridge who is trying to contact her husband, who died three years ago. Mintz is attracted to the woman and Sam knows one thing - if he can't convince her that there is no ghost, she too will drown in the small lake behind her house just as her husband did. Troin's brother, Jimmy Giovanni, is convinced that Mintz is exploiting her and their very odd housekeeper, Priscilla Stoltz, is nothing short of creepy. Sam however is convinced that there is a very earthly explanation to the voices Troin has been hearing.
12Animal Frat - October 19, 1967
Sam leaps into the body of Knut 'Wild Thing' Wileton, a frat house president who is known for his partying. It's 1967 and protests against the Vietnam war are now common on college campuses. Sam's task is ensure that a fellow student, Elizabeth Spokane, doesn't make an error that will ruin her life. In a few days, she will place a bomb in the chemistry lab to protest work they are doing for the Defense Department. Although the lab is supposed to be empty at the time, a student will be killed. It turns out Sam also has another task, one related to Wild Thing himself.
13Another Mother - September 30, 1981
Sam leaps into the body of a divorced mother of three whose eldest son, 15 year-old Kevin, will run away from home in the next 24 hours never to be seen again. Kevin is at that awkward age where he's embarrassed that he's still a virgin. His so-called friends decide to pull a practical joke on him leading him to run away. Sam and Al also learn that a young child can see both of them and have to come up with some pretty quick answers.
14All Americans - November 6, 1962
Sam finds himself back in high school when he leaps into the body of Eddie Vega. Eddie and his best friend Chuey Martinez both star on the school's football team and Sam is there to keep Chuey from throwing the upcoming championship game. It turns out that Chuey's mother is several months behind in her rent to her landlord who also happens to be a heavy gambler. In return for Chuey throwing the game - he's the team's star receiver - he'll forgive what his mother owes.
15Her Charm - September 26, 1973
Sam leaps into the body of an FBI Agent who is assigned to protect Dana Berrenger. She testified against her boss who used his company to import drugs, among other things. Unfortunately for her, her ex-boss was found not guilty at his trial and he's now out for revenge. She is in the witness protection program but the man has an uncanny ability of finding her. She thinks her FBI protector is just plain incompetent but it's obvious there is someone working on the inside.
16Freedom - November 22, 1970
Sam leaps into the body of George Washaki, a Native American who finds himself in jail with his grandfather. They had been arrested when George stole a pickup truck to help his grandfather run away from his nursing home and go back to his ancestral lands. The old man is dying and he does not want to die anywhere else. Sam decides to help him and they escape from jail setting off a manhunt. Along the way, Sam learns a little bit about himself as the old man dispenses wisdom that is applicable to both Sam as well as his grandson.
17Good Night, Dear Heart - November 9, 1957
Sam leaps into the body of Melvin Spooner a small town mortician and part-time coroner. The police bring him the body of 19 year old local girl, Hilly, who they believe committed suicide. Sam isn't so sure that she killed herself when he finds what appears to be a bullet hole in the side of her head. Unfortunately, he doesn't find a bullet or an exit hole. The autopsy also reveals that she was pregnant. She was seeing the son of a prominent businessman who didn't approve of their relationship. Sam realizes that he must solve the crime if he is to leap again.
18Pool Hall Blues - September 4, 1954
Sam leaps into the body of Charlie 'Black Magic' Walters, an aging pool pro who tries to help his granddaughter make a success of her club without resorting to pool playing. Al is thrilled at the turn of events having met Black Magic Walters in his youth. Unable to get a legitimate loan from the bank, Magic is forced to play the local loan shark to wipe out the debt. The only problem is that Sam can't play pool. Al comes up with a very practical way of ensuring Sam's success but he's left on his own when a technical glitch gets in the way.
19Leaping in Without a Net - November 18, 1958
Sam leaps into the body of Victor Panzini a trapeze artist along with his sister Eva and his father Laszlo. There is much tension in the Panzini family resulting from the death of the family matriarch a year ago. She fell during a performance while attempting a triple somersault and Laszlo blames his son who was acting as her catcher. Al tells Sam, who is afraid of heights, that in two days time, Eva Panzini will attempt the triple with her father as her catcher and she too will fall to her death. The only solution is for Sam to overcome his fears and take his father's place.
20Maybe Baby - March 11, 1963
Sam leaps into the body of Buster who is in the process of kidnapping a baby along with a stripper whose stage name is Bunny O'Hare and whose story is constantly changing. Initially, he thinks they might be the parents but Bunny tells him she is trying to get the baby, Christie, back to its real mother. Turns out she had good reason to take the baby away from her father
21Sea Bride - June 3, 1954
Sam leaps into the body of Philip Dumont who is aboard the Queen Mary and is trying to prevent the marriage of Dumont's ex-wife Catherine Farrington to a gangster, Vincent Loggia, affectionately referred to as Vinny the Viper. She's still in love with Philip who inexplicably disappeared three years before while sailing in the south seas. Her father wants the marriage to go forward because Vinny has offered to buy his failing shipping firm. Catherine's younger sister is on Philip's side but Vinny is prepared to do whatever it takes to get rid of him.
22M.I.A. - April 1, 1969
Sam leaps into the body of a newly promoted police detective Jake Rawlins. His task is to keep a woman, Beth, from falling in love with a lawyer she is about to meet. Her husband has been listed as missing in action and is in fact in a North Vietnamese prisoner of war camp. Sam doesn't quite get there in time and the two meet. He soon realizes however that Al has been less than honest with him about why it's important they not meet. In fact, Sam has leaped into Rawlins body to keep a junkie from killing his partner, Sgt. Roger Skaggs.
1The Leap Home: Part 1 - November 25, 1969
Sam leaps into himself as a 16 year-old and gets to re-live a very happy time in his life. His father is still alive, and his mother and sister are happy as well. Al tells him that he's likely there to re-play the big championship basketball game his high school lost. If they win, several members of the team will go on to greater careers that they have had, including college scholarships and professional basketball careers. Sam isn't sure he wants to replay the game as it will likely cause him to leap and he wants to stay with his family. He hopes to get his father, who will die in three years, to quit smoking, his sister not to elope with her boyfriend and to persuade his older brother Tom not to go to Vietnam.
2The Leap Home: Part 2 (Vietnam) - April 7, 1970
Having won the high school basketball championship game and thereby changing the future for his team mates, Sam leaps into the body of of a soldier in his brother Tom's squad while they are on patrol in Vietnam. It's the day before his brother is killed but Al tells Sam that he's actually there to ensure that the next day's mission succeeds, not to save his brother. When he learns that an attractive and outgoing photo-journalist Maggie Dawson is also killed on the mission, he tries to save her as well. On patrol the next day, Al suggests that Sam help free a nearby American POW but he declines and doggedly sets off to save his brother.
3Leap of Faith - August 19, 1963
Sam leaps into the body of Father Frank Pistano, a Catholic priest. He's there to help his colleague, Father McRoberts who is bitter over the death of a young parishioner and is drinking heavily. Al tells Sam there is a high probability that Father Mac, as he is known, will be killed. Both Father Mac and the dead boy were the only witnesses to a killing by young hoodlum Tony Pronti and it is clear that Tony is out to get rid of him. When Father Mac reaches the end of his tether, Sam has to keep him from committing murder.
4One Strobe Over the Line - June 15, 1965
Sam leaps into the body of high-fashion photographer Karl Granson. According to Al, Sam's job is to keep up and coming model Edie Landsdale from dying of an overdose of drugs and alcohol. Modeling is a tough job and Edie's agent, Helen Le Baron, is giving her pills to make it through the day. Edie is a down home type of girl who would like nothing better than to make a little money and then return home to take care of her family and perhaps become a vet. When she crashes at a photo shoot, Sam has to move quickly to save her life.
5The Boogieman - October 31, 1964
Sam leaps into the body of a second-rate horror writer, Joshua Ray just before Halloween 1964. Ziggy confirms that Sam is there because of Ray's fianc?e Mary Neely. A series of bizarre events lead to the death of a handyman and then an elderly neighbor and Al is convinced that she is responsible somehow. The local Sheriff suspects Ray and Sam is sure that the Sheriff is the guilty party. Sam constantly sees a goat at the site of the deaths and soon realizes that he is combating and evil force, perhaps the Devil himself.

7Black on White on Fire - August 11, 1965
Sam leaps into the body of Ray Harper, a promising African-American medical student who has the opportunity at an internship at a Boston hospital. Ray currently lives in Watts and it's the eve of the 1965 race riots. He's engaged to Susan, a white girl, and faces not only her father's wrath but that of his brother Lonnie and his friends. Al tells him that his purpose is to keep Ray and Susan together but there is a chance that Susan might die in the riots. As the violence and race hatred grows, both Ray and Susan must face the challenge of each communities prejudice.
8The Great Spontini - May 9, 1974
Sam leaps into the body of Harry Spontini who, as The Great Spontini, performs as a magician in cheap nightclubs. His assistant is his precocious 12 year-old daughter Jamie who has great hopes for the act. His wife Maggie, who left Harry three years before, suddenly reappears asking for a divorce. Sam decides that he's there to reunite the family but has to re-think this idea when he learns - in a Judge's chambers - that she's actually out to get custody of Jamie as well. Al tells him that unless he can change what happened, Jamie will become a runaway living on the street. Sam's main obstacle to reuniting the family is Maggie's lawyer-boyfriend Steve.
9Rebel Without a Clue - September 1, 1958
Sam leaps into the body of Shane 'Funny Bone' Thomas, a biker and member of a gang, The Cobras, circa 1958. Al tells him that he's there to prevent the murder of Becky, a young idealist who shows great potential as a writer. Sometime in the next 24 hours she will be stabbed, but Al doesn't know by who. Despite Sam's several attempts to convince her to leave she refuses to do so. She's inspired by Jack Kerouac's On The Road and wants to experience life. Sam decides there's only one person who can convince her otherwise - Jack Kerouac himself.
10A Little Miracle - December 24, 1962
Sam leaps into the body of Reginald Pearson, valet to millionaire Michael Blake a hard-nosed businessman. It's Christmas-time and his business plans are to tear down the 4th Street Mission so he can build a new office plaza. Al tells Sam that his mission is to save Blake from his own bah humbug ways. Sam takes him on a trip down memory lane by visiting his old neighborhood where he meets old friends and learns what happened to some of his old friends. Blake also takes an interest in the pretty Salvation Army Captain who runs the Mission. Despite progress, Sam can't quite get Blake to take the final step so he and Al decide the time has come to show him his future.
11Runaway - July 4, 1964
Sam leaps into the body of 13 year-old Butchie Rickett. It's July 4, 1964 and the Ricketts are on a 9000 mile trip across America. Butchie is a typical 13 year-old. He's regularly bullied by his older sister and can't quite seem to live up to his father's expectations. Al tells him that unless Sam intervenes, Butchie's mother Emma will disappear later that day and never be seen again. When Emma meets Billy, an old high school friend who is now a widower, Sam assumes that she's run off with him. Her disappearance is related to something completely different however.
128 1/2 Months - November 15, 1955
It's 1955 and Sam leaps into the body of 16 year old Billie Jean Crockett who is also 8 and a half months pregnant. Her mother is dead and her father wants nothing much to do with her. Her boyfriend, who got her pregnant, is off to college soon and wanted her to have a termination. Al tells Sam that she will have her baby within a day and give it up for adoption leading to a lifetime of regret and searching for the child. The solution is that Sam may have to give birth to the baby before he can leap again.

14Private Dancer - October 6, 1979
Sam leaps into the body of Rod "the Bod" McCarty a male dancer at a strip club. According to Al, he's there to prevent a waitress and aspiring ballet dancer, Diana Quinna, from turning to prostitution to make ends meet. Diana is quite innocent in many ways. She would love to be a professional dancer but is hearing disabled and lacks the self esteem to make it on her own. Despite Sam's best efforts, she resists his interventions on her behalf but he nonetheless arranges an audition for her with professional choreographer Joanna Chapman who is recruiting for her dance company
15Piano Man - November 10, 1985
Sam leaps into the body of Chuck Danner, a piano-playing lounge singer. Al tells Sam he's there to keep Chuck, whose real name is Joey Di Nardo, from being killed. It turns out that he witnessed a mob killing so he's changed his name and has been on the run ever since. Now re-united with his old girlfriend, klutzy Lorraine, he's again on the run from a mob hit man. Lorraine is still in love with Joey but she is convinced that she is a jinx and all of this is her fault. Lorraine's new boyfriend had encouraged her to find Joey and get rid of any ghosts that may still be around but when he hears that there's a hit man after them he comes to get her. Turns out he had his own reasons for wanting Lorraine to find Joey.
16Southern Comforts - August 4, 1961
Sam leaps in to the body of Gilbert LaBonte who runs the family's hundred year-old business: the finest brothel in New Orleans. He's there to help out Gina, a college student who clearly shouldn't be there. Al tells him that if he's not successful, Gina will disappear sometime in the next 24 hours and subsequently be found beaten to death.It turns out that she is running away from Jake Dorleac who has his own reasons for wanting her to return home. She on the other hand is afraid for someone other than herself. Sam sets up Dorleac for a fall.
17Glitter Rock - April 12, 1974
Sam leaps into the body of Jeffrey Mole, a 1970s rock musician and member of a band that has as its trademark heavy makeup. Al tells him that in two nights time, a crazed fan will stab and kill him. The fan in question, 16 year-old Philip Silbart, is emotionally disturbed and has run away from several foster homes. Strange things begin to happen however - like a stage prop falling on his head - which leaves Al and Sam wondering if someone other than Philip may be out to get him. Sam begins to suspect the band's business manager of fiddling the books but it also turns out that Jeffrey is probably Philip's father.
18A Hunting Will We Go - June 18, 1976
Sam leaps into the body of Gordon O'Reilly, a bounty hunter trying to return his prisoner to the Sheriff in Decatur. He's arrested Diane Frost who was charged with forging her boss' signature on a million dollars' worth of checks and then skipped bail before going to court. According to Al however, Sam and Diane will be killed that very night. According to the information he has, Diane will shoot Gordon and will then herself be shot trying to run away. She proves to be quite a handful and tries to escape at every opportunity. The truth is that Sam is becoming quite attracted to her and when she reveals why she stole the money, he realizes that he may have put her in danger by turning her over to the local Sheriff.
19Last Dance Before an Execution - May 12, 1971
Sam leaps into the body of Jesus Ortega, a death row prisoner who is about to be executed. A last minute stay of execution gives Sam 48 hours to prove that Ortega is innocent. With the secret assistance of an Assistant District Attorney, Margerita Lorrea Tearsa, who thinks he's innocent, he's submitted an appeal to Governor. All of this doesn't sit well with Theodore Moody, the DA who convicted him who is also now a candidate for Governor. Ortega was convicted of robbing a church and killing a priest but he and his accomplices deny having anything to do with the killing. Unless Sam can figure it out, not only will Ortega die in the electric chair but Tearsa will be disbarred. The key is that there is someone else Sam is supposed to save.
20Heart of a Champion - July 23, 1955
It's 1955 and the middle of the cold war when Sam leaps into the body of Terry Sammis, a professional wrestler who, along with his brother Ronnie, form a tag team. They're from Arkansas but their ring persona is that of Soviets and they taunt the crowd with their pro-Russian rants. Al tells Sam that Terry is new to the wrestling game having just replaced an older brother who died in a car crash. He also tells him Ronnie will die in the big title match they have scheduled for the next day. Sam tries to convince Ronnie to pass upon the big match but wrestling is in their blood and Ronnie has no intention of giving up their big chance. There's only one thing Sam can do: fight the entire match by himself and make sure Ronnie never enters the ring.
21Nuclear Family - October 26, 1962
Sam leaps into the body of Eddie Elroy, a college student who is visiting his brother in South Florida during the height of the October missile crisis in 1962. Eddie's brother Mac sells bomb shelters for a living and the crisis is proving to be good fodder for increasing sales. Al tells Sam that that evening the Elroys' neighbor, Burt Rosencranz, will be shot as he tries in a panic to force himself into the bunker during what they all think is a nuclear attack. As a result Mac goes to jail and the family is destroyed. Sam tries to allay everyone's fears by suggesting it will all blow over but they are all genuinely scared and preparing for the worse. Just as President Kennedy goes on television to announce a resolution to the confrontation, there is a power blackout leading them all to believe they are under attack.
22Shock Theater - October 3, 1954
Sam leaps into a patient at a Mental Hospital and undergoes electroshock therapy. The treatment causes Sam to act like other people he's been. It also weakens his link to Al. Al must find a way to get his friend back to normal, and figure a way to carry out Sam's mission.

Sam and Al have switched places. Now Sam is the hologram, and Al is the leaper. Al must reunite a returning WWII veteran with the woman he left due to the war. Sam and Al must figure a way to communicate with the future, because Al has the comm device, and Sam has no way to contact Ziggy.
2Play Ball - August 6, 1961
Sam leaps into the body of Lester 'Doc' Fuller, a minor league baseball pitcher with the Galveston Mustangs. Al tells him that Doc makes it to the major leagues and has an outstanding first year but then disappeared after accidentally hitting someone with a pitch and killing him. Al thinks Sam is there to help Doc get back into the major leagues. Sam wonders if he's really there to save Doc or to help Chucky, the real pitching ace on the team. Chucky is an angry young man however, drinking on game days and often getting into fights. With a major league scout scheduled to take in the big game, Sam may get the start because Doc has been sleeping with owner, Margaret Twilly.
3Hurricane - August 17, 1969
Sam leaps into the body of Mississippi Sheriff Archie Necaise who along with his girlfriend, Red Cross nurse Cissy Davis, are trying to get people to evacuate the area due to the impending arrival of a major hurricane. They have to deal with quite a number of people who simply won't leave and some are actually having a party as they plan to ride out the storm. He also has to deal with his old girlfriend, Lisa, who obviously still has feelings for him and is heartbroken over their break up. However, Al tells Sam that he's there to save his girlfriend Cissy's life. Sometime later that day at the height of the storm, she will return to her home for reasons unknown and be struck by a piece of flying debris. Sam's plan is simple: keep her close by and not let her return home. It doesn't quite work out that when they get a call to evacuate someone in distress. Sam manages to partly change the future, but when Al learns that Cissy will now be shot, Sam races to rescue her.
4Justice - May 11, 1965
Sam leaps into Clyde just as he is being initiated into the Klu Klux Klan. The head of the local clan chapter is Clyde's father-in-law and he's the head of the 'hunting club', as it's publicly referred to, to please his wife as much as anything. Al tells Sam that he's there to save Nathaniel Simpson, who happens to be the son of Clyde's maid, Ada. Nathaniel is active in getting African-Americans registered for the upcoming election but in 1965, the KKK has no qualms about shutting up what they see as troublemakers - permanently. Sam is disgusted with the whole thing and is prepared to put his life on the line to support Nathaniel.
5Permanent Wave - June 2, 1983
Sam leaps into the body of Frank Bianca, a hairdresser in Los Angeles just as there's a shooting at the pharmacy next door. He lives with Laura and her son Kyle and he has just let the boy go next door to get some candy. The boy is unharmed but the pharmacist is killed and Kyle may be the only witness. Laura refuses to let Kyle cooperate with the police since her husband once witnessed a crime and was killed before he could give evidence. The detective on the case desperately wants to speak to Kyle but Sam can't convince Laura that they should do the right thing. Time is running out as Al tells him that both Kyle and his mom will be killed in the next 48 hours and he's there to stop it.
6Raped - June 20, 1980
Sam leaps into Katie McBain, a teenage girl who has been raped. He decides to press charges against Kevin Wentworth, who was Katie's date that night. It turns out Kevin and his family are well regarded in the town, and it will be hard to prove he did rape her. Sam gets a sympathetic district attorney to help get a trial going. However, Sam cannot testify for Katie since the exact details, so he gets Al to devise a way to have Katie testify while Sam is on the witness stand.
7The Wrong Stuff - January 24, 1961
Sam leaps into Bobo, a chimpanzee-in-training for the manned space flight program in 1961. Bobo is under the care of Dr. Leslie Ashton who is trying to prove that "her" chimps can do almost anything a human could do. Al tells him that it is essential that he be one of the two chimps selected for spaceflight otherwise Bobo will be found dead with a severe head trauma. Unbeknown to Dr. Ashton, a colleague is experimenting with crash helmet durability using the chimps as crash test dummies. When Bobo isn't selected for the space program it looks like he's done for and if Sam can't leap before the helmet test, it's the end for him as well.
