Cute, perky and appealing brunette actress Belinda Balaski was born on December 8th, 1947 in Inglewood, California. Her father Lester Balaski was a famous jockey from the 30s up until the mid 60s and her mother Norma Jean Jahn was a singer, dancer and actress who can be forever seen in tile at the Getty Museum. Belinda first began acting at age five. She earned drama scholarships throughout her school years up through college. With her bubbly, upbeat personality, lively, captivating presence, considerable acting skills and extremely pretty good looks, Belinda has been a substantial and delightful asset to any given movie she appears in. Balaski's more memorable roles include a dippy hippie chick in the hilariously horrible made-for-TV horror hoot "The Werewolf of Woodstock," Lynda Carter's sweet best gal pal Essie in the exciting redneck crime/action exploitation winner "Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw," an imperiled pregnant woman in Bert I. Gordon's exceptionally crass "The Food of the Gods," and Robert Carradine's daffy surfer girlfriend in the rousing cross country road race romp "Cannonball." Belinda often acts in films for director Joe Dante; her best-ever Dante picture parts are a nice summer camp counselor in the terrific "Piranha," a spunky go-getter eager beaver photographer in the fantastic "The Howling," and a harried down-on-her-luck working class mother in the wonderfully raucous "Gremlins." Among the TV shows Belinda has done guest spots on are "Baywatch," "Eerie, Indiana," "Father Dowling Mysteries," "Falcon Crest," "Our House," "Simon & Simon," "Hunter," "The A-Team," "Vega$," "Starsky and Hutch," "Charlie's Angels," the Emmy-winning "The Runaways" episode of the "ABC Afterschool Special," "S.W.A.T.," and "Baretta." A few of Belinda's TV favorites are "Miss R's Daughter," "Death Scream," "Deadly Care," "Proud Men," and "Are You My Mother" (Belinda was submitted by producers for Emmies for the last two). Balaski has won two Robbies and the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for her acting on stage. She's also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In the late 80s Belinda created BB's Kids Acting School; she teaches both kids and teenagers in theatrical, commercial and musical workshops. In addition to acting and teaching, Belinda Balaski is also a writer, painter and photographer.
