Matthew Penn, son of Arthur Penn ("Bonnie and Clyde") was born and raised in New York City. He began his career as an actor and appeared in 8 films and over 30 plays. Matthew Penn, son of Arthur Penn ("Bonnie and Clyde") was born and raised in New York City. He began his career as an actor and appeared in 8 films and over 30 plays. He began his directing career at Ensemble Studio Theater. Mr. Penn followed that by directing theatrically in numerous venues both Off-Broadway and regionally. Mr. Penn began his television career with "Law & Order" (1990). He has directed extensively for that series and also "NYPD Blue" (1993).He received an Emmy nomination for directing Julia Roberts in Law and Order's episode #200. He is a member of Ensemble Studio Theater, the Actors' Studio and the Director's Guild of America. Mr. Penn continues to live with his wife and two children on Manhattan's Upper West side.
