Gracie Otto, a 21 year old Australian filmmaker, is part of the Otto family of actors - father Barry (Strictly Ballroom, Bliss, Cosi) and sister Miranda (Lord of the Rings, War of the Worlds) - so it was inevitable that she would be attracted to the medium of film.She has completed four years of study in film: a two-year Screen Production course at high school (2003-4) and a Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Screen at Sydney Film School (2005-6).Gracie has directed four short films - La Meme Nuit (2007), Tango Trois (2005) Broken Beat (2005) and Kill Blondes (2004) - all of which have received critical acclaim at festivals in Australia and internationally including: Flickerfest (Sydney), St Kilda (Melbourne), European ECU (Paris), Short Film Market (Cannes), Interfilm (Berlin), Palm Springs (USA) Shoot Me (Netherlands), Salento (Italy), Spirit On Screen (NZ), Singapore and the Australia-Japan Student Film Festivals.She recently made her acting debut in the leading female role of Emma in Matthew Newton's feature Three Blind Mice, which has screened in competition to great acclaim at the London (Winner International Critics Best Film), Toronto, Thessaloniki (Winner Best Screenplay) Sydney (Highly Commended), Melbourne and Brisbane Film Festivals. This is also her first credit as a feature film editor.Gracie's most recent work includes the Flickerfest Film Festival trailer as writer/director, editor and lead actor; a featured role in LBF currently shooting in Sydney; and a presenter at the IF Awards.She is currently in development with producer Lisa Shaughnessy for her first writer/director feature Rue de Tournon.Gracie has travelled extensively to Europe, Asia and the United States, and this year alone she has been a guest at the Cannes, Toronto, Thessaloniki and Kawasaki Film Festivals.Gracie has represented Australia and NSW in Futsal (Indoor Soccer) in NZ, Greece and Canada and NSW in Softball in the 2004 Australian Championships.
