After attempting to warn Princess Celestia about the return of the wicked Night Mare Moon, Twilight Sparkle and Spike travel to Ponyville where they meet Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Fluttershy.

2Friendship Is Magic, Part 2 (Elements of Harmony)

It is up to Twilight and her new pony friends to help the Princess, but it will not be easy. Night Mare Moon challenges the ponies with individual obstacles they must overcome to find the Elements of Harmony before it is too late.

3The Ticket Master

When Twilight Sparkle receives two tickets from Princess Celestia to the Grand Galloping Gala, all of her friends want to gobut who will she choose? Twilight Sparkle receives two tickets from Princess Celestia to the Grand Galloping Gala. When her friends find out, each of them wishes to go with her- - Applejack dreams of taking her farm's apple products to the Gala and making enough money to help her family out. - Rainbow Dash wants to use the Gala as a means to meet The Wonderbolts flying team (who are always in attendance). - Pinkie Pie wishes to go for the party and festivities. - Rarity wants to go in hopes of meeting (and possibly marrying) a handsome Prince. - Fluttershy wishes to go to view the castle gardens and its rare variety of plants and animals. Each of Twilight's friends present plausible reasons to go, but Twilight is unable to decide just who should get her extra ticket. Each of them attempts to win her favor by offering her food or doing chores, but she grows more and more exasperated at their attempts. Pinkie soon lets slip to the rest of Ponyville about Twilight's extra ticket, and soon everyone is clamoring for it. Twilight and Spike barricade themselves in her library, but her friends are already there, causing her to cry out that she can't decide, and doesn't want to on the basis that it will displease the others. When her friends see how upset she is, they give up their attempts. Twilight then has Spike send the tickets back with a note to the Princess, saying she doesn't want to attend if her friends can't. Surprisingly, the Princess sends back a response, with enough tickets for all 6 of them to attend!

4Applebuck Season

Its Applebuck Season in Ponyville and a short-handed Applejack is determined to complete the harvest all by herself. After Applejack saves Ponyville from a stampede, the town's residents decide to throw a party in her honor for being such a helpful pony. On the day of the party, Applejack is presented with a large trophy, but some are perplexed when she seems a little tired out. Twilight Sparkle stops by Sweet Apple Acres later on, and Applejack explains that Applebuck Season is upon the farm. Normally, both her and her older brother Big Macintosh would be doing the harvesting together, but since he has sustained an injury, she has taken it upon herself to harvest the farm's entire apple crop. Twilight claims she should get help, but Applejack refuses. Due to her overworking, she ends up causing a number of small disasters: - Rainbow Dash asks Applejack to help her work on perfecting a new aerial trick, but ends up being flung into Twilight's treehouse. - Pinkie Pie requests Applejack's baking expertise when she is given the chance to run Sugarcube Corner. However, Applejack misinterprets directions for making muffins, and the end result ends up sickening a number of ponies in town. - Fluttershy asks Applejack and her dog Winona to help with the local 'bunny census,' but Applejack and Winona end upscaring the bunnies so bad, they end up stampeding through Ponyville, and eating up a number of flowers and plants in the town. After the bunny stampede, Twilight goes to Applejack and demands she seek help harvesting the farm's crops. However, Applejack claims she's finished the harvest...until Big Macintosh points out that she's only harvested a fraction of the farm's crops. This realization causes Applejack to faint. When she comes to, Twilight still offers to help her, and Applejack accepts her offer. Twilight recruits the rest of their friends, and they end up finishing the harvest. After they are finished, Applejack thanks them all, and apologizes for her stubborn personality causing her friends grief.

5Griffon the Brush Off

Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash pal around playing pranks on the other ponies, but when Dashs old friend Gilda the Griffon shows up, Pinkie Pie suddenly becomes a third wheel.

6Boast Busters

The arrival of Trixie, a boastful pony with magical skills, irritates the ponies in Ponyville who turn to Twilight to challenge her.

7Dragonshy

Fluttershy must convince a sleeping dragon to move out of town before the plume of black smoke its producing covers all of Equestria!

8Look Before You Sleep

When the ponies gather at Twilights for a slumber party, Rarity and Applejack begin to quarrel and threaten to ruin the party.

9Bridle Gossip

Twilight Sparkle is surprised when all of Ponyville shutters its doors when a Zebra named Zecora comes into town. Her friends explain that Zecora lives in the Everfree Forest. Though noone's taken time to talk to the Zebra, many of them assume she does evil things. Twilight refuses to believe this, when she and the others notice Applebloom is missing! They follow her trail to the Everfree forest, finding her on the edge of a field of blue flowers. Zecora is also there, and warns the ponies to 'beware!' All of them return home and go to sleep, but wake up the next day with strange afflictions: -Twilight Sparkle's unicorn horn has softened -Pinkie Pie's tongue has swollen up, and all she can do is spit -Rainbow Dash's wings are inverted, and she is unable to fly properly. -Rarity's hair has grown incredibly long, hindering her sight and movement. -Applejack has shrunk to a small size -Fluttershy's voice is deeper and male-sounding Almost everyone assumes that Zecora has placed a curse on them. As they discuss this, Applebloom sneaks away, but is tagged along by Applejack, who hides in her hair. As Applebloom nears the Everfree Forest, Applebloom comes out of hiding, and demands her sister go back to Ponyville. However, Applebloom refuses, and places her 'little' sister on a tree branch, before wandering back on her way to Zecora's. Shortly afterwards, the others find Applejack, and continue on their way to Zecora's, where they see her working over a bubbling pot, and wondering just where Applebloom is. The others then burst into her hut, assuming she is going to cook Applebloom, before Applebloom appears in the doorway, having returned from finding some ingredients for Zecora. Both Applebloom and Zecora explain that the reason for the pony's afflictions, was due to their encounter with the field of blue flowers the previous day. The flower is called 'poison joke,' and Zecora was making a cure for them. However, not all of the ingredients she has will work, and she needs to get them from Ponyville. The others help Zecora return to Ponyville, and show the others in town that they have nothing to fear. Eventually, the girls are returned to normal.

10Swarm of the Century

Parasprites, furry little multiplying creatures, descend upon Ponyville and begin to devour everything and its up to the ponies to find a solution.

11Winter Wrap Up

Twilight Sparkle does her best to prepare for the upcoming Winter Wrap-Up without relying on her magic to help.

12Call of the Cutie

Apple Bloom is discouraged because she has not received her cutie mark yet so she aggressively searches out her purpose in life so she can get it.

13Fall Weather Friends

When Rainbow Dash and Applejack compete against each other in the annual Running of the Leaves, competition turns sour and the ponies do whatever it takes to win.

14Suited for Success

Rarity offers to make dresses for her friends for the upcoming Gala but gets in over her head when she tries to incorporate all of their individual styling ideas.

15Feeling Pinkie Keen

Amazed with Pinkie Pies ability to predict the future, Twilight Sparkle follows her around in order to uncover the source of her incredible abilities.

16Sonic Rainboom

When Twilight uses her magic to give Rarity wings so that she can watch Rainbow Dash compete in a race, Rarity is so taken with her new ability that she disrupts the competition.

17Stare Master

Fluttershy offers to babysit the Cutie Mark Crusaders but quickly discovers that they are more than she can handle. Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo are planning to have a sleepover at Rarity's, but due to a major fashion order, Rarity does not have the time to watch them. However, Fluttershy offers to help, figuring since she handles animals well, she should be able to handle the three girls. However, the three prove to be more rambunctious than she imagined. Just when she thinks she has got the three under control, they take off into the Everfree Forest, in search of one of Fluttershy's chickens that has run off. Going after them, Fluttershy is shocked to find Twilight Sparkle, turned to stone! Knowing this to be the work of a creature known as a cockatrice, she quickly locates the girls, but not before the cockatrice shows up, and turns her missing chicken to stone as well. Fluttershy then faces off against the Cockatrice, and using her stare powers,' causes it to back down, and undo its curse on her chicken and Twilight. The three girls happily cheer on Fluttershy's power, with Scootaloo dubbing her 'The Stare Master.' The next day, Twilight compliments Fluttershy on handling the girls, but Fluttershy claims that she did take on more than she could handle. Even so, when Rarity stops by to pick the three up, she is shocked when Fluttershy tells them to get ready, and they snap to attention.

18The Show Stoppers

The Cutie Mark Crusaders sign up for a talent show hoping to discover their true life meaning and finally earn their cutie marks.

19A Dog and Pony Show

While hunting in the woods for gems for a new dress, Rarity is taken by a group of greedy Diamond Dogs and forced to find jewels for them. When famous performer Sapphire Shores stops by Rarity's boutique, Rarity springs into action to get enough jewels for the five outfits she requests. Spike is enlisted to help Rarity dig up jewels, but as they do so, they are accosted by 3 animals known as 'Diamond Dogs.' Seeing Rarity's gem-finding skills, they kidnap her, and take her deep underground. Spike enlists the help of the other ponies to rescue her, with each of them worried of how Rarity is faring. However, Rarity ends up driving the Diamond Dogs crazy, by refusing to dig, haul jewels, whining, and weeping when one of them calls her a 'mule.' Eventually, her friends find her, and by this time, the Diamond Dogs just want her gone. Rarity happily leaves, along with plenty of jewels to finish her outfits.

20Green Isn't Your Color

Rarity recruits Fluttershy as a model in hopes of impressing a famous designer with her dresses, but its Fluttershys modeling career that takes off instead!

21Over a Barrel

The ponies work to settle a complicated land dispute between the Appleloosans and a herd of buffalo fighting over the same territory.

22A Bird in the Hoof

Without asking permission, Fluttershy borrows the Princesss sick bird in order to heal it, and the ponies must work together to get it back before she notices. Fluttershy and her friends are invited to an afternoon Tea with Princess Celestia at Sugar Cube Corner. Also with the Princess is her pet bird, Philomena. However, the Princess' pet looks quite sickly, and unseen by the Princess, Fluttershy takes her back to her cottage. Fearing that the Princess doesn't have the time to care for her bird, Fluttershy attempts to nurse Philomena back to health. However, each of her attempts does nothing to help. Twilight Sparkle drops by, and is shocked to find what Fluttershy has done. She is further shocked when the Princess' guards show up at the door, asking if the two have seen the Princess' missing pet. Fluttershy and Twilight attempt to return Philomena, but she runs off with the two in hot pursuit. They finally corner her at a fountain in town, when the bird suddenly coughs, and falls from the top of the fountain. Fluttershy rushes to catch her, but as she does, Philomena bursts into flames, and turns to ash. Princess Celestia shows up just then, and Fluttershy confesses to taking Philomena, and shows her the pile of ashes. However, Celestia surprises everyone when she tells Philomena to 'stop playing around.' Suddenly, the pile of ashes turns into a striking red bird, and Celestia explains that Philomena is a Phoenix. In her own way, Philomena apologizes to Fluttershy, and gives her one of her bright red feathers.

23The Cutie Mark Chronicles

Frustrated with their lack of success, The Cutie Mark Crusaders seek out Twilight and the rest of the ponies to learn the stories of how they got their cutie marks.

24Owl's Well That Ends Well

When Twilight becomes friends with an Owl who helps her around the house with chores, Spike becomes jealous and fears he will be replaced.

25Party of One

Pinkie Pie invites her friends over to celebrate her pet alligator Gummi's birthday party. As they leave, Pinkie's friends compliment her on another great party, and mention that she should throw another party again real soon. The next day, Pinkie goes to each of her friends and tells them that she's throwing an after-party for Gummi that very afternoon. However, each of her friends tells Pinkie that they are busy with other things. Pinkie Pie's suspicions are further raised when she notices Twilight Sparkle picking up something from the bakery, and seeing the wrapped item passed along to each of her friends. Eventually, it passes into the hooves of Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie follows her friend straight to AppleJack's barn. AppleJack denies anything is going on, and Pinkie leaves, even more convinced that her friends are spiting her behind her back. Hoping to get more information, she offers Spike some jewels if he will tell her "that her friends are lying and avoiding her, because they don't like her parties and don't want to be her friend anymore." Not sure exactly why she wants to hear this, Spike repeats what she just said, and Pinkie thinks she's figured it out...but then loses the bounce in her pink hair, as she truly believes this to be the case. Even so, she holds Gummi's after-party, but with makeshift 'friends' made out of things like a bucket of turnips, a sack of flour, and a stack of rocks. Rainbow Dash soon stops by, and tries to get her to come by Applejack's barn, but Pinkie refuses. Finally, after some forceful shoving, Rainbow Dash manages to get her friend to come along, and Pinkie finds all the other ponies waiting for her inside the barn with a surprise party. At first, Pinkie Pie misconstrues this as a surprise 'farewell party,' still believing that her friends are disowning her. However, they soon convince her that she's wrong, and that it's not her farewell party, but her Birthday party! Apparently, the group had been planning this for some time, and that is why they couldn't make it to Gummi's after-party party. With reassurance that her friends still love her, the bounce returns to Pinkie Pie's hair, and she parties with her friends.

26The Best Night Ever

Expectations are high for the Grand Galloping Gala but when the ponies arrive they find that their individual interests in the Gala are not all they had hoped for. The day of the Grand Galloping Gala has finally arrived, and all 6 of the ponies are eager to attend. Though Twilight tells Spike that they will be spending time together at the Gala, each of the ponies has her own agenda: -Twilight Sparkle wishes to spend time with Princess Celestia-Applejack plans to sell her family's apple products-Rainbow Dash wants to meet the Wonderbolts-Rarity hopes to meet a handsome Prince-Pinkie Pie hopes to have fun partying-Fluttershy is looking forward to roaming the Canterlot Gardens and seeing the animals there Once they all arrive, each of the 6 goes their separate ways (including Spike, who instead of attending the party, goes to a nearby donut shop). However, each of the ponies soon finds their expectations let down: -Twilight Sparkle ends up receiving and greeting guests along with the Princess-Applejack finds few takers willing to buy her goods-Rainbow Dash gets to hang out with the Wonderbolts, but they are soon preoccupied with other matters-Rarity meets Prince Blueblood, but finds him more concerned with himself than anyone else-Pinkie Pie's partying ways seem 'unrefined' compared to others-Fluttershy is unable to find any of the garden's creatures to make friends with Each of the 6 then plans to do whatever they can to make it the best night ever. But in the end, the Gala dissolves into chaos, and (at the Princess' suggestion) all 6 quickly beat a hasty retreat. They find Spike at the donut shop, and are also soon joined by Celestia. The Princess claims to have enjoyed how the night went, and even though it didn't go as planned, all of them claim they enjoyed the night as well!

1The Return of Harmony, Part 1

Cheerilee leads her class through the Canterlot Sculpture Gardens, where they come across a statue of a creature with different parts. It is soon found to be a Draconequus, a creature made up of different parts. When Cheerilee asks her students what the statue stands for, Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo get into an argument about it, before Cheerilee tells them that it symbolizes discord, or a 'lack of harmony' among ponies. Unseen (or heard) by the group as they move on, a crack has formed in the statue, and a deep rumbling laughter is heard. Meanwhile, back in Ponyville, a number of strange things begin happening: -Rainbow Dash finds numerous pink cotton candy clouds in the sky, that seem to produce chocolate milk. -The corn on Applejack's farm begins to pop like popcorn. - Fluttershy's bunny Angel suddenly grows giraffe-like legs (along with several other bunnies) Twilight attempts to use a spell to fix everything, but her magic does nothing. Soon after, the group is called to Canterlot by Princess Celestia. Celestia tells Twilight and her friends that the strange happenings are the result of Discord, a being whom she and her sister Luna sealed away many years ago. Celestia asks Twilight and her friends to use the Elements of Harmony to stop Discord, but all are shocked to find the Elements gone! Just then, a male voice is heard in the room, and in the stained-glass windows in the hall of the castle, Discord appears (just like the statue in the gardens). While almost all of the ponies attempt to verbally stand up to Discord, he seems to ignore their 'taunts,' and shows surprising knowledge of each of their main traits. He then goes on to say he's hidden the Elements, and offers the following clue: "Twists and turns are my master plan. Then find the elements back where you began." Heaing the phrase 'twists and turns,' Twilight figures the Elements must be hidden in the nearby hedge maze. As the group goes towards the maze, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy are shocked when their wings are removed, and Rarity and Twilight express shock as well when their unicorn horns disappear too! Discord then appears before all of them, claiming he has given each of the ponies the same advantage to playing 'his game.' There are three rules involved: 1: No flying; 2: No Magic; 3: Every pony has to take part, or the game ends. The group then attempts to get started, only for each of them to be separated into different areas of the maze. Twilight calls out that they'll simply head to the center of the maze, and regroup there. As Applejack wanders down her section of the maze, a couple apples roll away from her, and lead her to a small pond, where several groups of creatures in the form of apples (actually puppeted by Discord in secret), show Applejack a vision of her friends renouncing their friendship, and taking off. Applejack does not want to believe this could be the truth, and the creatures tell her that lying would be easier to do. This causes Applejack's coloration to fade, and when Twilight finds her a few moments later, she lies to her friend (as well as shifts her eyes around). Pinkie Pie finds a small area that looks like a Birthday Party, but ends up falling into a mud puddle, causing the balloons around her to laugh at her. Discord appears, and tells her that her friends also laugh at her, she just doesn't realize it. Pinkie grows upset by this, and Discord's powers cause her to have her colors fade, and grow more serious and less fun. Rarity finds a rock wall in her part of the hedge maze, and finds 3 diamond emblems on it. Digging away at the wall, she finds a huge, pony-sized diamond, that she attempts to carry away (actually, a large boulder, that Discord has tricked her into thinking is a diamond). Still wandering around the maze, Fluttershy encounters 3 small butterflies, that tell her that she seems to have been abandoned by her 'friends,' but Fluttershy claims that she's sure they are doing their best to find her. The butterflies attempt to make her think her friends have forgotten about her, but Fluttershy remains positive that her friends are truly her friends...causing Discord to appear and pokes her in the head, forcing her to be cruel instead of kind. Rainbow Dash soon finds Discord, and is ready to take him on, before he tells her that he is willing to 'help her.' Using his powers, he shows her an image of Cloudsdale collapsing, panicking Rainbow Dash. Discord then presents Rainbow with a box that contains her wings. She can take the wings and save her home, or keep playing the game. Fearful for her home, Rainbow takes her wings and flies off. This causes Discord to find the others (who are acting nasty to each other, and to which Twilight Sparkle has no idea what has come over her friends). He points out that Rainbow Dash has broken the 'no wings/no flying' rule, and claims the game is over. With that, the hedge maze disappears into the ground, as Discord cackles that they are in for a 'big ol' storm of chaos.'

2The Return of Harmony, Part 2

Finding that the recovered Elements are powerless with her friends magically corrupted by Discord, Twilight Sparkle must rediscover the truth of her friendship to regain hope. |

3Lesson Zero

Going over her list of things to do, Twilight suddenly goes into panic mode when she finds that she has less than 24 hours to send her weekly correspondence to Princess Celestia! She hurries out into Ponyville to see if anyone has problems they need help solving, but almost everything seems to be normal. Twilight even attends a picnic her friends are holding, and worriedly tells them about her predicament. However, none of her friends sees why she should panic, making her even more exasperated. Finally, Twilight decides to make a problem in order to solve it. Taking a stuffed toy, she attempts to get the Cutie Mark Crusaders to fight over it, but none of them really likes the toy. Twilight then casts a spell on the toy, making whoever looks at it to become obsessed with it. However, this backfires when almost everyone in Ponyville starts fighting over the toy! The spell is broken when Celestia appears, cancels it out, and demands to speak with Twilight in private. Her friends quickly tag along, and apologize for not taking her worrying seriously. They also offer to share in their friend's punishment. Celestia is touched by this, and explains to Twilight that she has now set a new rule in correspondence about friendship: Twilight is to only send a letter when she has something to report on. If one of her friends learns something, they may send their report to her as well.

4Luna Eclipsed

Twilight Sparkle and Spike are attending Nightmare Night in Ponyville, when Princess Luna rides into town, in an imposing carriage. Though Luna claims she wishes to change pony's perception about Nightmare Night, the townsponies tremble in her wake, and Pinkie Pie and several smaller children rush away in fear. Luna trots off, saddened that she seems to be feared, when Twilight follows her, wishing to help her. The first thing they try to change, is the way Luna speaks. Her booming, 'royal voice' appears too loud, and with some help from Fluttershy, Luna manages to lower her voice. Going back to Ponyville, Twilight enlists Applejack's help to show Luna how to have fun. Luna soon becomes pleased playing Nightmare Night games, when Pinkie shows up, and creates a panic, claiming Nightmare Moon is going to gobble them up! Luna attempts to calm everyone again, but when it seems noone will listen, she loses her temper, proclaiming that she wishes an end to Nightmare Night. Retreating to the woods, Twilight attempts to get Luna to reconsider, and manages to get Pinkie Pie alone to convince her that Luna is good. Strangely enough, Pinkie claims she knows this, and Twilight soon realizes the method to Pinkie's madness: Nightmare Night is about the 'fun' of being scared. Even Luna realizes this when a little pony named Pipsqueak goes up to her, asking if she'll return next year to scare them, even if it means Nightmare Night is cancelled. Realizing that being scared is part of the festivities, Luna retracts her statement, and ends both scaring several of the ponies in good fun, as well as relaxing a bit with her newfound knowledge.

5Sisterhooves Social

Rarity's parents leave Sweetie Belle in her care while they go on vacation. Sweetie Belle wants to help her sister, but all her attempts do nothing but irritate Rarity. Eventually, Sweetie Belle runs across Applebloom, who tells her about the upcoming Sisterhooves Social to take place at Sweet Apple Acres. The event is a sisters-only event, and Sweetie Belle thinks it would be a great thing for her and Rarity to take part in. However, Rarity wants nothing to do with it, and Sweetie Belle and her angrily part ways, with each feeling that they do not need a sister. Sweetie Belle then spends the rest of the day with Applebloom and Applejack, and enjoys seeing both of the sisters getting along really well. Back at her boutique, Rarity notes that some of what Sweetie Belle had done that at first seemed irritating, has actually helped her. Having second thoughts, she finds Sweetie Belle, but is shocked when Sweetie Belle claims she wants to 'adopt' Applejack as her Big Sister. Rarity attempts to change her mind, but everything Rarity suggests are things that she (Rarity) wants to do. Applejack takes Rarity aside, and tells her that a part of being sisters is giving in every once in awhile. The next day at the Sisterhooves Social, Sweetie Belle goes along wtih the Apple family, and receives a surprise. To make her feel better, Applebloom has allowed Sweetie Belle to enter the Social with Applejack! As the race starts, Applejack falls into a mud pit, and comes out caked in mud. Even so, she and Sweetie Belle excel in almost every portion of the events, but end up getting second place. However, Sweetie Belle doesn't mind, as she claims she had alot of fun! However, as she goes to hug Applejack, Applejack's hat falls off, revealing a unicorn horn! It turns out that Rarity and Applejack switched places when she fell into the mud pit, and it was Rarity who took part in the events along with Sweetie Belle! After the events, both of the sisters have Spike pen a letter to Princess Celestia, telling about what being sisters is all about.

6The Cutie Pox

Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle are still attempting to do what they can to get their cutie-marks. However, their attempts still leave them no closer to their goals. Though Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle are ok, Apple Bloom is the only one who really feels disappointed in their latest attempts. Going to visit Zecora, Apple Bloom tells her how she really wants a cutie-mark as soon as possible, but Zecora tells her that she must be patient. Apple Bloom notes Zecora using a flower called Heart's Desire, which can help people with their problems. Apple Bloom hints to Zecora if this flower could help her, but Zecora tells her to still be patient. The next day, Apple Bloom's friends and classmates are surprised to see her with a hoop for a cutie [mark! They then watch as she uses a hoop and performs all kinds of amazing tricks. As she continues to perform, a second cutie-mark appears, this one showing balancing of bowls on sticks. Everyone is soon surprised when Apple Bloom performs this and her hoop tricks! Applejack is so happy for her younger sister, but shortly after she is put to sleep, the sound of loud noises is heard from Apple Bloom's room, and Apple Jack finds her younger sister dancing uncontrollably, and a third cutie-mark (this one of a dancing shoe) appearing on her flank. They then go to Twilight Sparkle hoping to find a cure. Looking through her library, Twilight finds a book telling of a disease called 'Cutie Pox,' in which some ponies broke out in a number of cutie-marks, causing them to perform the talent that each cutie-mark shows. However, no known cure is known, as eventually, the Cutie-Pox went away. Twilight and Applejack attempt to take Applebloom to Zecora to see if she may have a cure, but are sidelined when Applebloom's Cutie-Pox grows worse. However, Zecora just happened to be coming into town to see if she could obtain more of the Heart's Desire plant for her wares...since some mysteriously vanished recently. Hearing about AppleBloom's predicament, she has some special seeds planted in the ground, that will blossom into a plant that can help her, if 'someone' tells the truth. Pinkie Pie attempts to do so, but nothing happens. Finally, AppleBloom confesses to taking some of Zecora's Heart's Desire and mixing it up to give her a potion to make a Cutie Mark appear. As expected, a flower appears, and AppleBloom eats it...causing her Cutie-Pox to disappear. Once cured, she apologizes to Zecora for taking her things, and the Zebra accepts her apology. AppleBloom then is allowed, at Twilight Sparkle's request, to send a letter to Princess Celestia regarding patience and waiting.

8The Mysterious Mare Do Well

After Rainbow Dash uses her athletic ability to save several ponies from dangerous situations, she is hailed as a hero by many in Ponyville. However, her friends notice that with each rescue, Rainbow is growing more and more obnoxious. One day, everyone is shocked when a mysterious masked pony appears, and saves a pony from a hot air balloon. The Mayor quickly dubs the newcomer, 'The Mysterious Mare Do Well.' Rainbow Dash doesn't think much of Mare Do Well, until the masked pony ends up saving the day more often. Rainbow's friends comment how much they admire Mare Do Well, further upsetting her. Eventually, a celebration is held for Mare Do Well, and Rainbow steps forward, demanding the superhero unmask herself. Mare Do Well takes off, with Rainbow in pursuit. Finally cornering her, it's revealed that Mare Do Well was really all of her friends in disguise! The reasoning was to teach Rainbow Dash a lesson in not being so self-assured and over-confident.

10Secret of My Excess

Spike's Birthday is approaching, and he's been holding onto a rare Fire Emerald as a Birthday meal. However, when he shows it to Rarity, her face shows how sad that such a beautiful jewel will be devoured. Feeling that it would benefit her more than him, he gives it to her, and she eagerly accepts his generosity with a kiss on the cheek. When Spike's Birthday comes around, the other ponies show up and provide him with gifts. This is new to Spike, as he is usually just given one present by Twilight. Spike soon finds out that the proprietors of Sugar Cube Corner have made him a special jewel-encrusted cupcake, and even Cheerilee gives him a hat. However, the promise of free stuff on his Birthday soon has Spike attempting to get more things from other ponies, before Twilight finds him, and berates him for what he's doing. The next day, Twilight awakens to find Spike having grown larger, and unable to stop collecting or grabbing things. After two pony doctors are unable to find out what is going on, Twilight takes Spike to see Zecora.

After a stunt leaves her with a broken wing, Rainbow Dash is annoyed to be stuck in the hospital for a few days to recover. Hoping to give her friend something to occupy her time with, Twilight Sparkle gives Rainbow Dash a book from the hospital's book cart, based on an adventuresome pegasus pony named Daring Do (Twilight happily claims she's read all of Daring Do's adventures). However, Rainbow scoffs at the offer, saying only 'Eggheads' read books. Eventually, Rainbow runs out of things to occupy herself with, and starts to read the book. She soon becomes engaged when Daring's adventure has left her with a broken wing (just like her!), hindering her search for a mysterious idol. Soon, Rainbow can't put the book down, but grows upset that she is turning into an 'Egghead.' Her friends visit her, but Rainbow keeps coming up with excuses to get them to leave so she can read. Unfortunately, before she can finish the book, her wing has healed, and she is released from the hospital. Not wanting to admit to her friends that she loves reading, Rainbow sneaks back into the hospital at night, intent to get the book. However, she is spotted, and a mad chase leads her smack into her friends, where she sadly confesses that she is an 'Egghead.' However, her friends say it's alright to love to read, and in the end, Twilight allows Rainbow to finish the book from her library, as well as start Rainbow into reading Daring Do's other adventure stories.

17Hearts and Hooves Day

It's Hearts and Hooves Day, and Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo are sad that their teacher Miss Cheerilee does not have a 'very special somepony.' They attempt to find someone to set her up with, before finally settling on Big Mac. However, their pairing up of the two doesn't go as planned, but upon hearing Twilight mention how 'Hearts and Hooves day' was the result of two ponies and a love potion, the girls form an idea. Using the recipe, they concoct a love potion that soon has Big Mac and Miss Cheerilee unable to be apart from each other. It's only after this do they find out they may have actually created a 'love poison' instead. the original lovers that used the potion became so infatuated with each other, their kingdom fell. The three girls fear that such a fate will befall their school and Sweet Apple Acres. However, there is a cure: if the two can keep from looking into each other's eyes for 1 hour, the potion will wear off. The girls manage to fulfill the steps, and apologize to the two for using the potion on them. They are punished by being sent to do Big Mac's chores.

19Putting Your Hoof Down

Fluttershy serves her animal friends some food, but of all of them, it is the little bunny named Angel who throws a tantrum. Angel refuses to eat anything but a specific type of salad in a fancy cookbook. Not wanting him to starve, Fluttershy agrees to make the salad. Going out to collect ingredients, Pinkie Pie and Rarity notice how unassertive Fluttershy is when it seems that she shies away from confrontation when several other ponies take the things she needs from different stalls in Ponyville. The two give Fluttershy some tips, but she does not utilize them properly. In the end, Fluttershy is able to obtain every item for the salad, except for a cherry to top the salad off. Even though she tells Angel she's sorry she couldn't get the cherry, the little bunny throws a tantrum and still refuses to eat. Getting her mail, Fluttershy finds a flier for a self-help seminar. Going to the seminar, she and numerous ponies find it presided over by a minotaur named Iron Will, whose motto is that if any Pony is not completely satisfied with his training, they don't pay. Fluttershy is chosen to demonstrate Iron Will's methods, and soon, she begins to take the self-assertive training to heart. At first, Pinkie Pie and Rarity are happy that Fluttershy seems to be standing up for herself, but when she starts to get too aggressive, they attempt to intervene. However, they soon find themselves on the receiving end of Fluttershy's aggressiveness, when she puts down their loves of fashion and parties. The two run off crying, and upon stopping to think, Fluttershy feels she has become a monster. Shortly afterwards, Fluttershy locks herself in her cottage and refuses to come out. Pinkie Pie and Rarity go to see her, but she refuses to open the door to them. Just as they are about to leave, Iron Will shows up to collect his fee, as word has spread that his seminar worked on Fluttershy. Pinkie Pie and Rarity try to stop him, but nothing works. Eventually, Fluttershy emerges, but shocks everyone when she tells Iron Will that she was not satisfied with his methods. This shocks the minotaur, as he's never had anyone not be satisfied, and he leaves pondering this. Pinkie Pie and Rarity are happy that Fluttershy was able to stand up for herself, and not get aggressive. As the episode ends, Fluttershy sends a letter to Princess Celestia, telling how she has learned to stand up for herself, but not get carried away about it. This is finally demonstrated when she prepares a meal for Angel, who again throws a tantrum. However, Fluttershy stands up for herself, and Angel concedes, eating the meal (which he soon enjoys).

When Twilight Sparkle receives a strangely vague warning about impending doom and disaster from her future self, she drives herself nearly mad in an attempt to stall a cataclysmic event, but her uncertainty makes finding answers difficult. |

Hoping to find a way to get their Cutie Marks, Applebloom, Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo join the school paper. This year, Diamond Tiara is the paper's Editor-in-Chief, and demands the girls get her some juicy news. The girls' first attempts are all rejected, but when classmates Snips and Snails end up stuck together with chewing gum, the girls submit their story under the name 'Gabby Gums,' and Diamond Tiara loves it! The story even becomes a popular topic around the school, and Snips and Snails relish the attention (even if the gum removal has left them with a few 'bald patches'). After returning to Rarity's place, Sweetie Bell finds her sister looking in her saddlebag, and laughing at the article. At first upset that her sister was looking at her stuff without permission, Sweetie is surprised when Rarity enjoys the school paper, and asks to show it to her friends. Diamond Tiara asks for more Gabby Gums-written articles, but the girls are unable to come up with anything. Their solution? Make stuff up. This not only upsets a number of ponies, but Sweetie Bell goes too far, and actually publishes excerpts from her sister's private diary. Rarity confronts her sister about what she has done, and Sweetie Bell and her friends then go to Diamond Tiara to resign. However, Diamond Tiara blackmails them to continue writing Gabby Gums columns, promising to print incriminating photos of the three. The girls finally figure out how to get around this, and give Diamond Tiara an article, who sends it to the press without reading it, as the press deadline draws near. The article is actually a public apology from 'Gabby Gums,' and gives all three of the girls' names, promising the column and false stories will end. While Ponyville and their friends forgive them, the girl's teacher Cheerilee then strips Diamond Tiara of her position, relegating her to work the printing press instead.

3Too Many Pinkie Pies

Pinkie Pie begins to grow upset when she finds out her friends are all doing things that she wants to partake in. Applejack is planning a barn-raising, and Rainbow Dash wants to relax by the poind. When Twilight Sparkle tells Pinkie she can't be in two places at once, Pinkie suddenly remembers a legend about a Mirror-pool in the Everfree Forest. Finding it in a cavern deep in the forest, Pinkie recites a special incantation, and a duplicate of her appears, eager to have fun! Pinkie then sends her duplicate off to take part in the barn-raising, while she goes to have fun with Rainbow Dash. However, the duplicate doesn't get far, when she is invited to a critter picnic with Fluttershy and her animal friends. The thought of missing out on another fun even panics the duplicate, and she rushes to find Pinkie. Pinkie then comes to the assumption that they simply need to make another duplicate in order to not miss out on Fluttershy's picnic. Going back to the mirror-pool, the two create two more ponies, and Pinkie thinks they are all set...only to have her duplicates make more duplicates! At first unsure, Pinkie is now sure that the fun-loving duplicates will help her situation. However, they have very little on their mind but fun, and end up ruining each of the activities, and irritating the rest of Ponyville. Twilight is called to do something, and finds a spell to send the duplicates back to the mirror-pool. However, noone can tell which of the Pinkies is the real one, and Twilight is apprehensive of sending the real Pinkie into the pool. It is then that one of the Pinkie Pie's proposes that Twilght make a test, one that only the real Pinkie Pie can pass. They would be able to tell the real Pinkie, given that she would stay focused to complete the task to stay with her friends. Twilight takes the advice, and after Applejack and her family herd the Pinkies to town hall, Twilight gives them a test: watching paint dry. Whoever is able to focus on this without being distracted, will win. Eventually, each of the duplicates loses their train of thought, and Twilight zaps each of them back into the mirror-pool. In the end, Pinkie learns that it's ok if she can't attend each of her friend's activities, as there will always be more to come to take part in.

4One Bad Apple

Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo are excited to meet Applebloom's cousin Babs Seed, who comes all the way from Mane-hattan. However, when she arrives, Babs seems to be very quiet and shy. The girls see that like them, she also hasn't gotten her cutie-mark yet, and quickly show off their clubhouse, telling how she could become a member like them. When this offer is met with Babs still being quiet, the three show her the pumpkin float they've made for the Summer Harvest Festival. It is then that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon see the girls, and start making fun of the girls. When Diamond Tiara gives Babs the option of siding with her and Silver Spoon, the others are shocked when Babs accepts, and quickly wrecks the girl's float. The girls get defensive, but when Babs asks if they intend to snitch on her, they quickly quiet down. Sweetie Belle insists that they should tell someone about Babs, but the others refuse to take her advice. Instead, they assume they can avoid Babs for the rest of her time in Ponyville. This doesn't work, as Babs is there at every turn, making them miserable, even going so far as claiming the girls' clubhouse for herself, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon. Sweetie Belle still says they should tell someone about Babs, but Applebloom comes up with the idea to rebuild their Summer Harvest float, for a way to get back at her. They'll make the float so impressive, that Babs will want to drive it, and then set its steering to malfunction, sending her into a mud pit at the edge of the parade route. The next day, the girl's plan seems to work, and Babs bullies her way into driving the float. Applejack sees Babs driving, and tells the girls that she's glad they are helping Babs, who had a bad time with bullies back in Mane-hattan. The girls now realize why Babs took Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon's side: she didn't want to be bullied in Ponyville, so she decided to BE a bully instead! The girls rush to stop Babs, and manage to shove her out of the float before it careens into the mud pit. In the aftermath, Babs is surprised why the three would help her, when they explain what they were trying to do. They apologize for trying to get back at her, and soon after, Babs is inducted into the Cutie Mark Crusaders. As Babs prepares to leave for Mane-Hattan a few days later, she tells the girls that she'll also tell about their club to some of her other friends. It is then that Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon see the girls, and make another little verbal stab, but Babs tells the girls to leave her friends alone, or she'll tell their Moms. This is enough to make Diamond and Silver back off.

5Magic Duel

As Twilight Sparkle practices magic for an upcoming audience with Princess Celestia, she is alerted by her friends that a pony named Trixie has returned to Ponyville. Originally having appeared as 'The Great and Powerful Trixie,' Twilight showed up Trixie's cheap tricks and sent her running away in shame. Her reputation ruined, Trixie swore revenge, and has returned wearing a special Alicorn amulet. Trixie then proposes a challenge to Twilight: a magic duel. Whoever is unable to counter the others spell, will be banished from Ponyville. Twilight refuses to take part, but when Trixie begins bullying her friends (including removing Pinkie Pie's mouth!), she gives in. Trixie throws several major spells at Twilight, including weather and age-related ones, which Twilight is not versed in. Twilight is unable to counter the age spell, and Trixie casts her out of Ponyville, trapping the town under a giant glass dome. Twilight attempts to work on her magic by herself, but she is unable to perfect the age spell. With Spike trapped inside Ponyville, she has no way to contact Princess Celestia, and seeks out Zecora in the Everfree Forest. Twilight relays her problems, and Zecora promises she can help her. Back in Ponyville, Trixie has taken over the town, and put all the ponies there to work for her, using her powers to torment them. Twilight's friends comb her library, trying to find anything on Trixie's power, when Fluttershy comes across a book that has a picture of the Alicorn amulet around Trixie's neck. The group nominates Fluttershy to get out and find Twilight, and with the help of her animal friends, they get her out, and find out about Zecora's help. Fluttershy then explains to the two about the necklace, along with a major problem: the only one who can remove the amulet, is the one wearing it. It is then that the three hatch a plan. Twilight soon after approaches the glass dome, and challenges Trixie. Twilight then claims that she has a special amulet that Zecora gave her, whose powers are largely unknown beyond the Everfree Forest, even to Trixie. Not wanting to be showed up, Trixie allows Twilight back into town, and the two then proceed to duel again. To demonstrate her powers, Twilight asks her friends for help. As Trixie watches:- Applejack and Rarity are aged and de-aged- Rainbow Dash is duplicated- Pinkie Pie is enchanted to play 10 instruments at once- Applejack is turned into a stallion, and back Trixie is incensed at the amulet's powers, and takes it away from Twilight. It is at this moment that Trixie removes the Alicorn amulet, and Rainbow Dash swoops in and grabs it.

6Sleepless in Ponyville

After doing some trick moves on her scooter through Ponyville, Scootaloo is ecstatic when Rainbow Dash notices her, claiming she has some 'sweet moves.' Scootaloo eagerly tells Applebloom and Sweetie Belle, and about how she wishes she could find a way to hang out with Rainbow Dash, and maybe get her to like her enough to train her. Applebloom mentions that she and Applejack are planning a hike to Winsome Falls, and that maybe they could invite her and Rainbow Dash to come. Rainbow Dash accepts the invite, and even Sweetie Belle is able to get Rarity to go. Arriving at their first campsite, Scootaloo is in awe as Rainbow Dash prepares the campsite, and is happy when Rainbow says she can sleep with her. As the evening wears on, Rainbow decides to tell scary stories. Telling of one about an 'olden pony' who is constantly searching for her rusty horseshoe, Applebloom and Rarity rush to their respective sisters for comfort, but Scootaloo tries to act like she's not at all afraid. As she attempts to sleep for the night, Scootaloo drifts off into a nightmare, where she is stalked by the olden pony of the story. Waking up and terrified, she stays awake all night, not telling anyone about her troubles falling asleep. The next evening, Rainbow sends her to gather firewood, but Scootaloo is so afraid that something is in the nearby woods, that she only collects a scant few branches. Rainbow wants to tell another ghost story, but Scootaloo tries to tell one about a 'nice pony' that has nothing bad happen to her. Needless to say, Rainbow is not impressed, and tells one about 'the headless horse.' That evening, Scootaloo tries not to fall asleep, but ends up doing so, and is stalked in her dreams by the headless horse. However, she is surprised when she is visited by Princess Luna in her dreams. Luna claims that it seems that Scootaloo is fearful of something else, and Scootaloo confesses that she is afraid that Rainbow Dash will not accept her if she finds out she was scared by the stories. As Scootaloo begins to awaken, Princess Luna encourages her to face her fears. Waking up, a strange sound scares Scootaloo, and she rushes from the cave, but ends up plummeting into a river nearby. She is almost washed over a nearby waterfall, when Rainbow Dash rescues her, and demands to know what she was doing so far away from the camp. Remembering Princess Luna's words, Scootaloo confesses about how scared she was hearing Rainbow Dash's stories. Rainbow then tells Scootaloo a secret: when she was young, she heard those stories, and was originally frightened too. Scootaloo also confesses that she was hoping Rainbow Dash would help train her, and is happy when Rainbow agrees to do so. The next day (after a good sleep), the entire group reaches Winsome falls, and has a fun time.

9Spike at Your Service

With Twilight Sparkle preoccupied with a number of books to read for Princess Celestia, Spike decides to go and do some things of his own. However, his to-do list isn't as long as Twilight's, and so he wanders through Ponyville. When he accidentally sets a hot-air balloon free of its tether, he rushes after it, and soon finds himself in the Everfree Forest, confronted by fearsome timberwolves, their breaths reeking. Just then, Applejack manages to show up, and distract/fend-off the timberwolves.In the aftermath, Spike tells Applejack that he has to uphold his Dragon Code, and now serve Applejack. Applejack at first doesn't know what to do, but allows Spike to help Applebloom wash a pig. With this task complete, Spike still claims he wishes to help, and when Applejack and Granny Smith say he can help them make pies, he comples...though makes more of a mess than anything else. Granny Smith intends to get Spike to reconsider, reminding him of his services to Twilight, but Spike claims that because of his life-debt to Applejack, he has to tell Twilight. Returning to her library, Spike explains about the life-debt, but Twilight is so preoccupied with her studies, that she does not hear Spike, and casually says little asides like, 'mhm,' and 'that's nice.' Returning to the Apple family, Spike claims that it's all taken care of with him and Twilight, and he can now help Applejack even more. Unsure what to do next, Applejack suggests they take the pie Spike has helped with to Rarity. While Rarity attempts to put on a happy face eating the rather un-edible pie, Applejack tells her in secret about Spike's life-debt. However, Rarity claims that having someone to help her like Spike is, would be a boon instead of a burden. Just then, Rainbow Dash stops by and hears Applejack's problem. She then decides to have Applejack ask Spike to build her a tower of rocks to smash through, figuring the task will be too big for Spike. However, Spike shocks everyone when he makes a huge tower, and Rainbow Dash has to smash through it. With no idea how to resolve the issue, Applejack goes to Twilight, and explains what Spike told her. However, Twilight explains she had no idea about the life-debt between Spike and Applejack.The group of friends (minus Spike) meet in secret, and hatch a plan for Spike to save Applejack from a (fake) timberwolf. The plan almost works, but even with Twilight magically manipulating the fake timberwolf, Spike points out that the timberwolf is missing the foul breath that normally comes with real timberwolves. It is just then that several timberwolves reveal themselves out of the nearby Everfree Forest, and everyone runs! Applejack crushing the wolves with a large rock, but gets her hoof stuck. As well, the timberwolves then recombine into an even larger timberwolf. Luckily, Spike throws a rock in its throat that chokes it until it disintegrates, and manages to free Applejack. With his life-debt repaid, Spike returns to happily being Twilight's assistant.

10Keep Calm and Flutter On

Princess Celestia asks for Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy to meet her outside of Ponyville. The Princess claims she's bringing a guest with her, but everyone is shocked to find that it is Discord, still encased in stone! The Princess claims that she needs the six to try and reform Discord, to possibly use his powers for good. Of all the ponies there, she gives the brunt of this task to Fluttershy. Using the Elements of Harmony, Discord is released, but it doesn't take him more than a few seconds before he's using his powers for mischief (turning a squirrel and a rabbit into mini-monsters). After giving in to their demands to change the animals back, Discord laughs at overhearing Celestia thinking that these ponies can reform him, and figures that since Fluttershy has been given the main task, he will stay with her. The others aren't so sure about this arrangement, but Fluttershy figures that if she can make Discord comfortable, he might reconsider his ways. Shortly after they leave, Discord torments Fluttershy's little bunny named Angel, and is caught eating paper (which soon turns out are the reform spells, torn from all of the books in Ponyville!). Discord even takes Fluttershy's words of 'make yourself at home' to heart, and uproots her cottage, sending it rotating in the air. Even with all this chaos around her, Fluttershy still attempts to stay positive. When Twilight sees the spinning cottage, she is of course disturbed, but Fluttershy claims everything is fine, and even suggests they all have dinner at her cottage that evening. When everyone arrives, the cottage has been placed back where it should be, and Discord is dressed appropriately for the occasion, even setting up the living room for the guests. However, dinner begins to get upsetting for the others, when a series of enchanted objects seem to be out of control. Everyone tells Fluttershy that she is being naive, but she claims that the others are the ones being unfair, and not giving him a chance to reform. She then claims that giving others a chance is what friends do. Upon hearing this, even Discord seems a little touched that Fluttershy considers him to be a friend. Just then, Angel rushes in, claiming that beavers are creating an elaborate series of dams that are seriously flooding Sweet Apple Acres! The others soon find that the Beavers seem to be under Discord's powers, yet he doesn't seem to care either way. Fluttershy asks for him to help fix the situation. He agrees to fix the flooding, on condition that Fluttershy never use her Element of Harmony against him. Even though her friends motion that this is a bad idea, she agrees to this, and Discord snaps his fingers. However, his way of 'fixing the situation' is to turn the water into ice! This makes Fluttershy upset, and she rushes out onto the ice to confront Discord, claiming that his solution doesn't fix anything. He then offers her a set of ice skates, claiming if she skates with him, he'll make it better. Just then, Spike appears with Fluttershy's Element of Harmony, and the others agree that Fluttershy should set a precedent: use the Elements to turn Discord back to stone, unless he fixes things. Even with everything that's happened, Fluttershy accepts the skates, and Discord gloats to the others that because he and Fluttershy are friends, she won't hurt him, and he can get away with almost anything. Hearing Discord twist around what she meant by friends, she throws the skates down, claiming that they aren't friends anymore. As she stalks off, Discord attempts to still gloat that he doesn't need friends, and that on his own, he can do almost anything. As he then starts to gloat that her tactics to un-friend him will cause him to reconsider, strangely enough..he does! Discord suddenly realizes that up until Fluttershy's claim, he's never had a friend, and this causes him to undue the ice, and dis-enchant the beavers. Discord also claims that it seems when you are friends, one can't always have things their way all the time. When Princess Celestia returns, Discord tells her he intends to use his magic for good ("most of the time," he murmurs to himself). Even so, Celestia says she will leave the Elements of Harmony in Twilight's care. When Twilight mentions how realizing what friendship means helped Discord, Fluttershy encourages him to tell what that means. Stubbornly, he blurts out, "Friendship is magic."

11Just for Sidekicks

Spike attempts to make a jewelled cake for himself, but finds himself un-knowingly eating all the jewels for the cake before he's finished making it. Beside himself as to what to do next, he is surprised when Fluttershy comes to him with a request. Apparently, she and their friends are scheduled to go to The Crystal Empire, and she needs someone to watch her little bunny, Angel. Spike isn't sure about this, but when Fluttershy shows him a large emerald she could give him as payment, he eagerly agrees! This also gives Spike an idea: as their friends also have pets, maybe he could get them to pay him jewels to watch them as well, giving him enough to make his cake! Sure enough, the others give in to his request. Rainbow Dash allows him to watch her turtle named Tank. Rarity gives him her cat, Opal. Pinkie Pie gives him her baby alligator, Gummy. Applejack gives him her dog, Winona. Twilight is a little apprehensive that Spike can handle taking care of all these pets, but he claims he can do it, and even gets her to pay him to watch their pet owl, Owlowiscious. After everyone leaves for the Crystal Empire, the pets begin to get out of control around the library. Spike attempts to do a head-count, but finds that Angel has escaped! Using the pets, he tracks Angel down to the Cutie Mark Crusaders' clubhouse, where the young ponies are finding the little bunny adorable. This gives Spike an idea. Hoping to finish his cake, he convinces the girls to watch the pets for him. When they claim they need money for treats and other things, he begrudgingly gives up one of the jewels he has. A short time later, as he's bringing cake supplied back to the library, he passes by the clubhouse, only to see all the pets in a messy situation, as the girls have attempted to clean them up. He claims he'll take them back and wants back the jewel he gave the girls, but they claim they spent it on an industrial-strength hairdryer for the pets. Spike then attempts to take them back through town, but gets into more trouble. Zecora happens to see him, and says she can help him if he gives her a jewel. He obliges, and she drops it in a donation box, claiming she's helping Spike curb his greed. Naturally, Spike finds this upsetting. He next passes Granny Smith, and as she seems to be eyeing him suspiciously, pays her off with another of his jewels. He then finds Angel has run off, and jumped onto a nearby train! However, the conductor won't allow Spike or the animals on without a (pony) chaperone. Seeing the Cutie Mark Crusaders nearby, he grabs them and claims they are his chaperones (and parts with another of his jewels, leaving him with just 2 now). Spike attempts to find Angel, but soon, the train starts moving, as the conductor says they are headed for the Crystal Empire! The Crusaders are excited, but Spike claims they are just going to get Angel, and wait for the train to head back to Ponyville. Upon arrival, the girls attempt to tickle Spike to get him out of the way, and Angel escapes from the train in the chaos. Across the train station platform, Angel sees Fluttershy and the others attempting to get on the train, and heads towards her. Afraid of being caught, Spike uses the emerald that Fluttershy gave him, and manages to stop Angel. Grabbing him up and herding everyone of the pets and the girls onto the train, they are almost caught when the main ponies end up in their compartment, looking for seats. Angel gets away from Spike, and attempts to tip them off, when Spike claims that the little bunny can go ahead and do it, as he's been terrible to him and all the other pets. Seeing Spike apologize, Angel quickly hops off the train, and returns with the emerald. Suddenly, Spike's stomach starts to growl, and the ponies wonder what's making the noise. Angel shoves part of the gem in Spike's mouth, and swallowing the piece causes his grumbling to subside. Returning to Ponyville, Spike, the pets, and the Crusaders quickly get off, and claim they've come to see the older ponies return. The others have no idea of the adventures Spike has been on, and all claim he has done a great job taking care of their pets. Back at the library, Spike prepares to use the half-eaten emerald, and put it into a cake for himself. However, he finds himself in the same situation as before, when he eats it without realizing it, leaving him jewel-less once again!

However, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon attempt to rile them up, claiming that they won't be considered because they don't have their cutie marks. The girls just brush off this latest taunt, and show Rainbow Dash what they got. Dash is excited, and Diamond and Silver are shocked. Realizing they can't upset the CMC's regarding their lack of Cutie Marks, the two then cause Scootaloo to doubt herself, claiming that even though a pegasus is part of their routine, Scootaloo can't fly. This seems to get under Scootaloo's skin, and she tries to force herself to fly, as well as pushes her friends to keep practicing their routine until they are soon sick and tired of it. On the day the different groups are headed to The Crystal Empire to perform before Ms Harshwhinny, Scootaloo claims she isn't going, as she still cannot fly. Later on the train, Rainbow finds Applebloom and Sweetie Belle, but is shocked when the two claim they left their friend behind. Rainbow then has the girls get off the train, and they rush back to Ponyville. Finding Scootaloo, she tells of her fear that she may never fly, and that she can't make a difference, but the girls and Rainbow tell her that she just has to do what she can. This helps, and the group rushes off to the Crystal Empire, where they perform their routine. It stirs up emotions in Ms Harshwhinny, and she happily proclaims the girls to be the chosen ones for the flag-waving team.

6Power Ponies

While reading a comic book Spike and his friends ends up getting sucked into the pages. Too return back to Ponyville and Equestria, they must defeat Mane-iac with their new Superhero Powers. But all does not go well, and the Mane 6 are captured, leaving Spike to find the courage to rescue his friends and save the day.

Although, what's more worrisome is that upon their return, they find that the Mane Six are acting extremely strange and out of character. Starlight, confused and saddened, does not understand why the Mane Six are acting in such an insensitive way. Although, that night, after princess Luna visits Starlight in a dream, it is clear that the problem is far worse than expected leaving only Discord, Trixie, Starlight and Thorax to prevent what is clearly an attack on pony-kind.
