Compo is missing Blamire, we learn from him, that Cyril Blamire has gone to live in Oswestry, after hearing a lady he is interested in has become a widow. Clegg has received a letter from Balmire, this letter asks the to meet someone off the bus. This someone is to be Foggy Dewhurst, whom they knew from their childhood and youth, he was a corporal sign writer, but now civilian. He is returning home to Arnold crescent, but no longer has any living relatives to meet.He arrives loaded with keepsake metal signs. Within a short time of meeting up with Foggy, Clegg announces Foggy is a "genuine 14 carat gilt edged barm pot". Foggy has fight fight in a pub with one of Compos many cousins, we don't see it, but despite Foggy boasts it last very little time, and the cousin comes in unscathed, unlike Foggy. The trio is now established. Written by Vita 1956

The trio meet up with Stuart,he has a troublesome leg, They all go to the café, where they all, including Sid, have a look at Stuarts leg, and then a listen for the click it makes, incurring Ivy's wrath. 5The Kink in Foggy's Niblick
The episode starts with Foggy (Brian Wilde), Clegg (Peter Sallis) and Compo (Bill Owen) out in a field about to play soccer (in their shirt sleeves and trousers). After some conversation, the game begins with Foggy in goal. Unfortunately, an overenthuasiastic kick at the ball by Compo causes Compo's welly to come off and hit Foggy in a sensitive place. Back at the cafe, the trio tell Sid what they've been doing, and Foggy then decides that he finds soccer too "crude" and states that he prefers golf. Sid doesn't believe that Foggy can play golf, especially when he discovers that Foggy hasn't played since 1939. So Sid issues a challenge. Foggy is to play a round at the local golf course that afternoon. Back at Foggy's lodgings, the trio rummage around the attic, looking for Foggy's golf clubs. More precisely, Foggy looks, while the other two mess about commenting on Foggy's landlady's old photos and clothes. When Foggy eventually finds his wooden clubs, he is disappointed to find that they have warped, due to being left too close to the radiator. Back at the cafe, Sid rushes a customer out and hurries up with the tidying-up, in the hopes of closing up early. Ivy wants to know why, and after a few prevarications from Sid, she reveals that she knows he's going to play golf with the trio. She hits him with a tin tray as he flees the cafe. At the golf club, a rather posh golfer is dismayed to see Clegg and Compo arrive by bicycle. Foggy then appears wearing "plus fours". Foggy, being somewhat ashamed of Compo's appearance, makes him the caddy. After a drink in the bar, they go out onto the course. At the first tee, they come across the same posh golfer trying to make a shot. Compo keeps on making noises while he tries to concentrate, so much so that the golfer leaves without taking his ball. Foggy says he'll return it to him later, even though you get a shilling back for lost balls. Now suddenly Compo is very interested. The rest of the episode intersperses Foggy's pathetic attempts at golf, with his distorted clubs, with Compo's sometimes bizarre schemes for gathering golf balls that are still in fact in play. Foggy's ball lands in a little stream which crosses a road. As he attempts to make the shot, he gets covered in water as a number of rally cars go through the stream. Then we see Compo selling golf balls to a long queue of golfers. Just before the closing credits, we see the trio plus Sid at night, still out on the golf course, as Foggy is determined to finish his round.

5Will the Nearest Alien Please Come In
Herman Teesdale and Alvin come out of Alvin's house, as Alvin explains that he is trying to con Nora to believe that he has a woman in the house. Truly and Clegg are in a field, and Truly asks for information about a man who they met in the pub last night. He'd been pontificating to Truly about aliens. Clegg says he's Kevin from Luton. Howard oils his bike, as Pearl and Nellie look on. Pearl says he's trying to achieve the silent bicycle, but she prefers it when she can hear him. In Barry and Glenda's house, it is clear that Glenda is angry with Barry over something but won't say what. Truly and Clegg are back in Clegg's house. Truly explains that, according to Kevin, you can recognise an alien by their lack of emotion and inability to smile. So when Clegg looks up and sees a glum-looking Howard at the door, he exclaims "Ye Gods, there's one at the door" Howard comes in and laments the fact that Pearl is suspicious because he likes a silent bicycle. Meanwhile outside, Pearl puts clay from a plant pot onto Howard's bike and when Nellie asks why, she explains that she's putting the squeak back into Howard's bicycle. Just then, Kevin comes along, looking for Clegg's house. When he gets a sharp reply from Pearl, he comments that our best defence against aliens is when the aliens realise what the women are like. Back in Alvin's house, Alvin persuades Herman to put on a blonde wig and a shawl, and to pose at the window, looking (from the back) like a woman, so that Nora sees. Back at Clegg's, Kevin tells Truly, Clegg and Howard about alien abduction. He explains that people who have been abducted have no personality, and Clegg says he's met someone like that behind the counter of a charity shop. In Barry and Glenda's house, Glenda is still clearly annoyed with Barry, and eventually it comes out that she is annoyed that he spends so much time stargazing. Whilst he's out stargazing, she had to resort to reading the sports section of the paper. When he asks why she didn't read the more interesting parts of the paper, she mentions that she'd used the rest to wrap celery she'd been given by a Mr Crabtree. Now Barry is suspicious that she's receiving gifts from a Mr Crabtree. In the Cafe, Nora and Ivy discuss a man that Nora claimed made Ivy turn to jelly. Ivy retorts that Nora used to have a crush on a Des Ellis. Nora says that she'd been 17 at the time, to which Ivy replies that Nora was 40 when she was born. "Going on 50", Nora replies. Smiler and Tom are pushing the handcart, full of office furniture. They meet Truly and Alvin. The 2 policemen are in their car, discussing sandwiches, when they are surprised to see Truly and Alvin rolling past on two typist chairs. Howard and Marina are cycling along the road, and Howard is worried that they'll be noticed because his bike is squeaking. Marina points out that this is a quiet road and Howard comments that they'd probably hear any vehicle before it came along, whereupon Truly and Alvin roll pass on their office chairs. Entwhistle is in the library, showing Miss Davenport his Nintendo. Kevin comes in, looking for a book on aliens. Once again he explains that aliens show no emotion, at which point, Entwhistle, having surreptiously turned on the Nintendo so that it makes funny noises, starts walking like a robot. Auntie is writing a sign advertising office furniture, when Smiler and Tom return with the handcart of furniture. Immediately she wants to know where the two typist chairs have gone, whereupon Truly and Alvin roll up on them. In the cafe, Pearl, Nellie, Nora and Ivy listen as Glenda complains about Barry's stargazing. Barry counters by mentioning the present of celery from another man. Truly and Alvin are walking away from Auntie Wainwright's, carrying the two chairs, which Auntie had forced them to buy. Entwhistle, Truly and Alvin are driving along the road when they see Kevin sitting on a wall. They decide that Alvin, whom Kevin hasn't met, should pretend to be an alien. Truly and Entwhistle approach Kevin and offer him a lift (Alvin is nowhere to be seen just now) and after being initially suspicious of Entwhistle, he realises he's from "around here" after he tries to sell him a re-conditioned TV. Back in the van, they come across Alvin hitching a lift, acting in a very strange manner. Kevin gets out to talk to him, and Alvin can't keep up the act, and cracks up. Kevin then says that he's have figured it out eventually as he has a method of detecting aliens. He makes Alvin stand with arms and legs apart, looking like an X, and then he creates the same figure, making sure that Alvin's left hand and foot are touching his right hand and foot (XX). Later in the pub, Kevin has Truly, Alvin and Entwhistle form a line of Xs, only to scare the barmaid into dropping a tray, whereupon the 3 lads scarper, leaving Kevin standing on his own. Now, out in a field, the four of them form a row of Xs, as the 2 PCs watch in amazement. The PCs don't think they'll hear anything, but then wonder at the strange squeak they can hear, just before Howard and Marina appear around the corner on their bikes. The 4 lads suddenly realise that the policemen are watching and they break formation, looking embarrassed. In Barry's car, Barry is driving Glenda home, and he's still on about the celery. Glenda says that Mr Crabtree gives celery to other people, including Nora Batty, to which Barry replies "A womaniser!" Back in the field, the policemen are amused at the lads and say it's all nonsense. Entwhistle and co drop Kevin home. He says they must do this again sometime and they say "Don't call us. We'll call you" Alvin is walking up to his house when Nora stops him and asks if he has a woman in the house. He thanks her for the offer but has no vacancies at the moment! The last scene (post credits) is of a different policeman, coming across the police car, parked and empty, and when he looks across the wall into the field, finds our regular two policemen standing in the Xs formationThey
