Gavin Gordon was born in Ayr, in Scotland. He moved to America in his early 20s and acted on Broadway from 1924 onwards. When talkies arrived and Hollywood was desperate for actors with good voices, he soon found work, making his debut with Fox Films in "The Medicine Men" in 1929. He almost hit the big time the following year, playing the romantic lead opposite Garbo in "Romance", but, sadly, romantic leads were not his forte and he soon found himself in secondary roles.
