1Pilot
Ominous messages steer a man to a building's rooftop, where he executes an improbable shooting in the opener of the series following a team of people with extraordinary abilities who investigate crimes linked to others like them.
2Cause and Effect
A problematic former patient of Rosen's escapes as Rosen is getting acquainted with his Department of Defense liaison, and the rest of the team tries to balance their normal lives with their work as Alphas.
3Anger Management
The team moves to new offices following the attack on Rosen; violent riots break out on the east coast, which are linked to a runaway teen.
4Rosetta
We open with Gary's mother getting him his nightly glass of water. It needs to be a very specific temperature. He has her get him another. During this time, he seems to find something. We cut to two men having breakfast in a house very early in the morning. One plugs in a tablet. The other makes him some eggs. The camera pans to their yard and the street and we see the Alphas and a SWAT unit are poised to raid the home. One of the men inside is Milos Kosar, who leads Red Flag's most aggressive cell and was the one who sent the ghost after Dr. Rosen (David Strathairn) and the rest of the gang in the pilot episode. Rachel (Azita Ghanizada) says she hears three heartbeats inside the house. Eventually Rosen gives the go-ahead for them to take the house. Immediately Hicks fires a shot that takes out one of the back door's pins, allowing easier access. Kosar's buddy senses they are under attack and grabs Kosar, preventing him from going back for the tablet. As they leave the room, we see Kosar's hand go up. Everything goes black. When the lights come back on, Kosar and the other man are gone. Rachel hears just one heart beat. They break down a back door and find a young woman sitting in a rocking chair, staring ahead as if in a daze. The young woman's name is Anna. Rosen says she is most likely a low functioning autistic. Nina (Laura Mennell) says she has no record of family.Bill (Malik Yoba) starts grabbing evidence. Rosen takes the tablet, which Rachel says is encrypted. Rachel says the blackout was anything from normal. Rosen says he wants Nina to stay at the home and supervise Gary (Ryan Cartwright) and Anna.Gary watches Anna closely. He seems fascinated as she passes her fingers over the closet door and items on the door.A powerpoint presentation is found in the home. Hicks (Warren Christie) thinks the message of empowerment for Alphas seems useful, while Rosen wants to blow right past it. Rosen perks up when Bill shows him paperwork related to an oil company. With use of a cell phone, Gary figures out how to read what Anna is saying. Her first message is "I can help you find them."The rest of the team returns to the home. Gary explains what he's done with Anna's "language." He tells Rosen she knows every language on the planet. An awed Rosen calls Anna a "virtual Rosetta Stone." He thinks she has severe issues with speech and motor skills but her language and pattern recognition is highly developed. She is an Alpha though. Sullivan (Valerie Cruz) points out Red Flag may have noticed this as well. Rosen thinks they can have her decode the emails on the tablet and lead them to Kosar.Rosen brings Gary home after his usual bedtime. His mother is furious. She seems delighted, however, when Rosen mentions his interest in Anna.Gary sees the tablet has audio software that connects her finger movements on a brush. This also means she is able to "talk" to Gary though a voice on the computer. Anna asks Gary about his Alpha ability. She is very impressed. They start working on the emails. The emails get sent to Bill. Rachel shows Rosen a piece of carpet singeing that indicates static electric interference. This is Kosar's skill. Bill brings over one of the emails to Rosen. It has the routing number for a fuel truck he thinks Kosar wants to blow up.We see Kosar and his friend at a rest stop. They get into a fuel truck loaded with explosives and head onto the road.Bill and a small team corner the truck from Gary's email. It turns out to just be a random driver with no explosives. We see the number from this truck is one off from the truck Kosar is now driving onto the New Jersey turnpike.Rosen grills Bill on how this mistake could have happened. Rosen calls Nina and says he wants Gary in the office.Cut to Anna talking to Gary about how he doesn't "need" Rosen. He can do things for himself. Gary notices a number is off from what Anna told him in another email. He asks her to count to ten and she ignores him. Nina comes in to bring Gary to the office. He flatly refuses.Hicks talks to Rosen about not taking Kosar too personally as that could make him prone to mistakes. After Nina leaves, Gary asks Anna why she lied to him. He's gone back and figures out she intentionally gave him the wrong number for the truck. Anna is still working for Red Flag, he says. "No," she says. "They work for me."Bill and Hicks decide to look at all the trucks with fuel still on the road. There are too many to track, however.Anna tells Gary sometimes there is no choice. People have to get hurt. There is a drug called Renestrin, she tells him, designed to eliminate birth defects. It also means it will prevent Alphas from being born. Red Flag wants to stop this. Anna says they are sending a message. People like them aren't a problem to be fixed. We see the truck heading through the Holland Tunnel.Gary tells Anna he's tricked her. He doesn't think she'll like it.Rachel gets a message from Gary. The team knows Kosar is headed to a pharmaceutical plant. Rosen is told Anna is Red Flag. He and Nina go to get Gary. The rest of the team heads to the plant.Gary suggests Rosen can help Anna. She says she doesn't need anyone's help and does something to cause discomforting interference in Gary's head. He grabs his ears and drops to the ground.Bill and Hicks get to the plant just as Kosar does. They prevent his buddy from detonating the explosives remotely. Kosar gets underneath the truck and uses his power to set it off with his hands.Rosen and Rachel find Gary is okay. Anna has disappeared.Rosen brings Gary home. He says Rosen "is not one of us." Gary says he sent Rosen an email he should read. Inside, Gary tells his mother he can get his water himself. He can take care of himself, he says. Gary gets a message from Anna apologizing and making sure they are still friends.Rosen and his team look at a message found over an open frequency sent by Anna. Red Flag was sending a message to drug companies. Rosen admits he underestimated the strength of Red Flag's message. He next tells Sullivan he and Wilson thought Red Flag was a "loose affiliate" of 50 to 100 cells. Gary has learned there are literally thousands of Red Flag cells across the country.
5Never Let Me Go
We open at night with a couple of high school sweethearts fooling around in the stands of a football stadium. They hear something and a few minutes later a man grabs the woman. Her boyfriend kicks him down the stairs. They look down at the man whose face appears almost zombie-like and says "Mr. Howard?"Rachel makes out with a date. While they kiss she starts freaking out and asks him to leave.Dr. Rosen gives the guys brand-new DCIS (Defense Criminal Investigative Service) badges, with the idea being to help cut red tape during cases. Rosen, like everybody, asks her about what was her first date. She doesn't want to talk about it. He asks her to travel with him to Fenton, Pennsylvania.Agent Sullivan told Rosen Fenton has recently seen a number of deaths due to rabid organ failure. The CDC doesn't have any answers, but Rosen thinks an Alpha could be connected. Immediately Rachel smells fear, telling Rosen the entire town is "scared to death." They meet with CDC doc Calder who tells them in the victims damage was centered in the fear/stress centers of the brain.Rosen and Rachel show their new badges to the local sheriff. He says the three bodies looked "half melted inside" but there was no infection. A fourth person, a young kid named Chris, was killed in a car accident, but no autopsy was performed. Rosen makes a request to see the body. They talk to the boy's mother, Mrs. Elkhart, about permission exhuming his body. She says Chris helped her get through the death of his father when he was 12. She mentions Chris recently tried out for the football team and was cut. Elhart hated the coach and said Chris never fit in. Rachel gets emotional and tells Chris' mother he was lucky to have her. She agrees to let them examine his body.Outside Rachel tells Rosen that her parents won't even return her calls since she moved out. They go back to see the sheriff and strangely find the station to be completely empty. Rachel smells decay and they head to the back. While in the back the sheriff tries to grab Rachel. He falls to the ground, looking exactly like the victim in the opening. Just before dying he whispers that she should have stopped it.The rest of the team heads to Fenton to join Rosen and Rachel. Rosen tells them the sheriff's body had levels of Cortisol (the hormone the body produces in response to stress) four times higher than normal. In high enough amounts Cortisol has the ability to eat away at organs and muscles. The team targets the town's football coach, Kent Zelansky, who now has connections to several of the victims -- Chris, the father of the town's football star and the school guidance counselor. At the high school Gary finds four "mean emails" from Zelansky to quarterback stud David Burton.Bill and Nina speak with the uber-confrontational Zelansky. He gets defensive when Bill questions him about his relationship with David Burton's father Ned.Gary comes across a sweaty David Burton as he bullies a kid in the hallway. Gary pulls info out of the air that is unflattering to David, resulting in trying to beat up Gary. Hicks comes to the rescue just minutes before David collapses. The team takes David to the hospital. Chris' autopsy comes back and it doesn't seem to indicate he suffered from what killed the rest of the victims. David's body is continuing to produce Cortisol even after being flushed. Rosen thinks the victims are all displaying symptoms of withdrawal. When Calder takes David's hand he seems to respond. Rosen thinks there is someone out there who is cutting off ties to the victims with fatal ramifications. David begins to crash.Rachel tells Elkhart it doesn't seem like he was one of the victims. She tells Rachel that football players like David bullied him for being different and spread rumors about him. Making matters worse was that Chris idolized the football players. Elkhart takes a liking to Rachel.Bill and Hicks examine the scene of Chris' death. Hicks is convinced it was no accident.Rosen's suggestion that David receive Oxytocin seems to be working. David tries to tell Rosen that he didn't mean to hurt someone but doesn't give a name. Bill and Hicks call to tell Rosen Chris' death was a suicide. All the victims so far were involved in either bullying or covering-up Chris' bullying, which gives Chris' mother quite a bit of motive.Cut to Rachel sitting with Elkhart. She talks about how much she loved Chris, and Rachel tells her that her parents think she is a freak. Rachel complains about her parents' lack of acceptance for her unique abilities and says they won't return her calls. Elkhart gives Rachel a long hug, afterwards Rachel says "I feel wonderful."Hicks and Bill arrive and find Rachel is gone.Rachel and Chris' mother are in the car together. She asks Rachel about her team members being alphas and says she has to make one step -- and will need Rachel's help to "get away."Rosen tells Nina that Rachel could be very much in danger. He thinks Chris' death has triggered a psychotic episode similar to postpartum depression for Elkhart. Gary locates Elkhart's car.Cut to Elkhart telling Rachel about initially comforting David's father after he apologizes for what happened to David. When he told her he didn't stop the behavior she became angry and was dead in a day. Elkhart and Rachel argue over her actions and Rachel starts to look ill.Bill and Hocks get in an accident trying to catch Elkhart. Bill decides to run for it.Rachel notices Bill on the way and Elkhart pulls the car over. She tells Rachel sorry and begins to tell Rachel she doesn't love her and wants her to die. She drives off and Rachel starts to writhe in pain.Elkhart pays a visit to Zelansky. He tells her that if they talk he'll feel much better. She responds that she wants him to spend his last few hours "dying alone."Rosen arrives with Oxytocin for Rachel. It doesn't seem to be working. Rosen explains that she is like a daughter to him and everybody tells her they love her. This seems to pull her out of it.Zelansky and Elkhart argue. He asks what he can do and she says "burn in hell." The team arrives and places Elkhart in custody. Rachel says Chris wouldn't want her to hurt anybody.Rosen told the public that Elkhart poisoned her victims. He tells Rachel Elkhart will be headed to custody and gives her a mini-pep talk.
6Bill and Gary's Excellent Adventure
We open with a college student and her female bodyguard walking down the street. Men jump out and throw her into a car.Bill sits at home watching video of an altercation of some kind. It's clear he and his wife are debating his leaving Dr. Rosen's team and returning to the FBI.Cut to Bill chasing a kid through the streets with the rest of the team helping him from a nearby car. Gary loses him in a park and Hicks and Nina end up grabbing the guy. They take his tablet computer and send him on his way. Rachel leaves Gary in the car and a cop arrives to question him. The team return to the car and find Gary is gone.Gary is located at a local precinct. Bill and Rachel argue over who is to blame. At the station Bill talks with a cop about the case that is dominating their days, the Lisa Collier kidnapping. It seems she was taken by a drug cartel who has recently sent proof of life to her family. Gary tells Bill that he's located Lisa's cellular signal, It's nearby.Bill and Gary find Lisa's cell in a sewer. Bill tells Gary he thinks if he can crack the case he has a chance to get back in the FBI. He wants Gary to be his "partner."A cop stops by to ask Nina about someone named Timothy Darren. She used her mind control to get him to leave and Hicks witnesses the exchange. She tells Hicks the cop thinks she killed someone.Bill brings the cell phone (a burner) to the FBI. He learns Lisa's father has factories in the cartel's territory and he didn't want to pay the "taxes" they were looking for. Some members of the FBI aren't thrilled to see Bill around, but Lisa's father James says that since Bill and Gary are the only ones to make any progress he wants them on the case. James' chief of security, Sarah, agrees they could use all the help they can get.We see the two men holding Lisa bickering about waiting for the next move. They don't appear to be cartel. Lisa is handcuffed to a bed with an IV in her arm. With Gary's mother worried, Rosen and Nina go looking for Bill and Gary.Bill and Gary get information from a restaurant owner with ties to crime.Hicks drops by Nina's place. He says he's there to apologize and she gives him a tour.Gary and Bill seem to have learned the cartel didn't take Lisa. While they sit in a restaurant Gary hears the FBI get a call from a burner phone requesting $10 million for Lisa. They will call back in one hour and, unlike the feds, Gary should be able to trace the call if he is near a good tower. At the top of the precinct Bill promises if Gary finds the phone he'll let him drive. He finds the signal and Bill says the next step for Gary is lessons.Hicks and Nina flirt while he pushes her about what is going on with her legal situation. She says se dated this guy Darren before being aware of her powers. When she tried to break it off she said "why don't you do yourself a favor and kill yourself." He did. Hicks thinks she should tells the cops what happened. They end up kissing.Bill and Gary go to a bar. Gary's points out the guy with a phone and Bill chases him out the back door. The guy turns and begins shooting. Bill shoves Gary out of the way and he ends up bruised. The feds arrive at the scene later and don't want to hear that the cartel is involved. The result of spooking the kidnapper is that they have raised the ransom. The agent who has been particularly opposed to Bill (Persky) has he and Gary arrested. On their way to the cruiser James yells at Bill for endangering his little girl.Rachel comes home and awkwardly interrupts Nina and Hicks fooling around on the couch. In the holding cell Gary is pushing for them to make a phone call. Bill is realizing he made a mistake by going after the guy by himself. Bill mutters about losing his job at the FBI and his wife not understanding him.Rosen yells at Bill in the parking lot outside the holding cell. Bill wants help from Rosen but he doesn't want to hear it. Gary tells them when the pick-up will take place and Bill explains to Rosen they are the only hope for Lisa. He thinks that these guys simply want to stick it to James and will never give back his daughter without their help. The man Bill and Gary found at the bar is shot by his partner for taking the risk of having a drink.Bill explains to the rest of the team what he and Gary have been working on and thanks them for helping. The drop zone is supposed to be the Bronx Zoo. The location confuses Bill.Lisa's remaining kidnapper is preparing to kill her and dispose of her body. He lays out some plastic and tells her he'll make it easy for her as long as there is some "quid pro quo." He wants her to send her a message from the other side.Bill focuses on the route Perksy and Nelson will take to the pick-up spot. He has Rachel look at the apartment where Lisa had been held and she finds it's rigged with explosives. Hicks disarms the bomb and inside they find the body of the guy from the bar. Lisa and her kidnapper are gone, headed to the drop point. They assume the kidnappers must have somebody on the inside.Cut to Persky and Nelson riding to the scene. Bill sends Persky a text that the kidnapper have someone on the inside. Nelson guesses something is up and tazes Persky, then destroys the car's GPS.With the GPS off Gary is unable to track Nelson.Lisa's kidnapper tells her "it's almost over."Gary locks on Persky's cell phone and they mange to track her to car. They place her under arrest and Nina uses control to get her to tell them where Lisa is located. They are able to get her to walk into the room and tell the kidnapper a lie, enabling Bill and Hicks time to move in. Lisa is secured.James and Lisa are reunited outside the building. He thanks Bill and Gary for the help. James asks Bill if he'd like help getting back into the FBI and says he'd be happy to make a call on his behalf. "Thank you," he says. Bill and Persky talk about the incident that led to Bill's dismissal. He apologizes to Persky, then tells him he should take the collar. Bill doesn't want to join the FBI after all.At home Bill tells his wife a lie about not being able to re-join the FBI. She says she doesn't care where he works, only that he's happy.Nina tells Hicks she's spoken to the detective and things have been cleared up. They agree to have dinner "sometime."Bill teaches Gary to drive.
7Catch and Release
Open with armed men storming a young woman's apartment. The place is filled with gadgets. She seems to have a robotic insect floating around her. She collects several items, including the bug and ducks out a window. As soon as the men are inside, she blows the building.Dr. Rosen (David Strathairn) and Sullivan (Valerie Cruz) get to know one another over some dinner. He is surprised she is such an outside-the-box thinker in her private life.Bill (Malik Yoba) and his wife have a discussion about having children. She is clearly hearing the sound of her biological clock, but he doesn't seem excited about the idea.Gary's mother calls Rosen to say Gary (Ryan Cartwright) is sick and won't be able to come into work. After she hangs up, we see she is lying, telling Gary that Rosen has told her he isn't needed that day.Hicks (Warren Christie) tinkers with an old toaster and flirts with Nina (Laura Mennell) about it. Rosen makes a comment to Nina about a possible relationship with him. They get a call from Sullivan. An Alpha, Skylar Adams (Summer Glau), is missing. At Skylar's place, we learn the team knew Skylar. Her hobby is related to inventing. Rachel (Azita Ghanizada) figures out men in assault boots were chasing her. Skylar was ready for them. Nina had some sort of friendly relationships with Skylar, though they haven't spoken in years.Nina gets a man who sold Skylar specialized parts that she was meeting a buyer at a farmer's market.Cut the farmer's market where Skylar is selling a dude some kind of sleep machine. Just as the transaction is complete, she spots the same men from the opening. She takes off. They chase after her. The men catch her just as the Alphas arrive on the scene. Hicks knocks the gun out of one of their hands. Bill grabs her and throws Skylar in a car driven by Rosen.Back at HQ, Skylar doesn't seem thrilled about being followed. She refuses to tell Rosen who was after her or what they may have wanted. We learn years earlier Rosen made an offer for her to work with them but she declined. Rosen says he won't force her to do anything against her will, but they need to figure a few things out first.Bill asks Hicks about his kid.Back at home Gary realizes his mother lied to him about Rosen not wanting him to work that day. Gary has told his mother about some of his work and it has clearly spooked her. She doesn't want him to return to work with Rosen. He yells at her to leave.Skylar is working on something when Nina comes to visit her.Sullivan tells Rosen that Clay (Mahershala Ali) is on his way to collect Skylar.Skylar still won't say what she's up to. She makes a few cracks about Nina and her team being order-taking "flunkies."Sullivan says the plan is to place Skylar in protective custody and have her work for the government.Sitting on his bed at home, Gary spots a team of men with guns arriving at the backdoor of Alpha HQ. He sends Bill a text and team prepares. Clay and his DOD agents arrive at the same time and confront the men who've been chasing Skylar. They are NSA. Skylar shows up and places a device on the ground. It renders everybody incapacitated, allowing her to escape.Gary sees what is happening and sneaks out of the house. In just a few minutes, Skylar made a device that used sound and light to stun everybody. Bill isn't happy Skylar showed no appreciation for them saving her. Nina is furious the plan is to give Skylar over to the government.Gary hails a cab.Clay tells Rosen that Skylar has been communicated with someone named "Z." The code's algorithm was sophisticated enough the NSA couldn't break it. They suspect she could be working for a foreign government, or even Red Flag.Nina comes home to find Skylar grabbing stuff from her apartment.Rosen tells the team they are now in a joint operation with NSA, though in reality it's a finders, keepers mission. Bill tracked a car he believed Skylar stole and had police track it to Nina's apartment.Cut to Nina driving Skylar in her car. Skylar convinces her to toss her cell phone. She wants to be taken off the map, but first needs to stop so she can "kill Bob." Bob is located at a NSA facility in Connecticut. A guard turns a gun on them. Nina gets them out of trouble. Bob is a super-computer run by an advanced processor Skylar built herself. It is the reason the NSA has been able to track her. She takes out the processor and places an explosive inside.Gary is dropped of at Alpha HQ and finds everyone missing. He picks up one of Skylar's bugs and realizes he can track her using it.At the NSA facility, Rosen gets a call about Gary running away. Clay tells them about the capabilities of Bob. Rachel tells them the process is gone. Clays says her contact with Z has increased. In Maine, Nina and Skylar stop for provisions. Nina says she wants answers, but Skylar still refuses. To Skylar's chagrin, Gary gets dropped off at the gas station. She decides Nina is no longer the way to go and tosses a device of some sort before bolting. The team has now reached Nina and Gary, who got a shock from Skylar's device. Rosen tells Nina about the rumors of Red Flag's involvement and says he needs her help. Skylar has stolen another car. Rachel thinks she can track it.We cut to Skylar arriving at a home. She tells an older man she doesn't have much time. He tells her Z is upstairs. The team arrives at Skylar's location. Gary helps Hicks get in the home via an upstairs window. He walks in gun drawn only to find a little girl drawing "Zoe" on a piece of paper. She asks if they are looking for her mother.Skylar tells the team her daughter has off-the-charts quantitative aptitude. She knew the NSA would never let her keep her daughter if they knew what she could do, so she had her uncle keep her hidden.Clay arrives at the house. Rosen tells him Skylar got away. He seems to sense Rosen let it happen.Gary has a long conversation with his mother, explaining working with the team is what makes him happy.Sullivan tells Rosen that Clay is raising hell about his report regarding Skylar. She tells him protecting his team is her toughest job.Rose and Nina meet with Skylar at a remote location. The deal for her helping them was to hand over a processor; a device Rosen knows could be used to track every alpha in the world. He smashes it.Bill's wife opens a package and finds a book about older couples having children.
8A Short Time in Paradise
TENNESSEE, 1980A church where a mass suicide ritual is about to begin. Several bodies lie in the aisle. A leader of some sort speaks to a young boy about what is about to happen and knocks a can of gasoline over. Just as he lights the liquid on fire, the boy, Jonas, heads for the exit.In present day, Dr. Rosen (David Strathairn) has Nina (Laura Mennell) give away her belongings to make a clean break from her past. Bill (Malik Yoba) pushes for the team to participate in a training program related to police tactics. Rosen doesn't like it, saying by choice he's never fired a gun. Hicks (Warren Christie) tells Rosen his wife is taking their child to another part of the country. He apparently got the shaft during custody hearings because of his past with alcohol. He looks longingly at a bottle of booze and then tells Rosen he's going to an AA meeting. Rachel (Azita Ghanizada) is desperate to bring a date to a family function so her parents won't try and set her up. It's looking like Gary (Ryan Cartwright) is her only option.Hicks' AA meeting. A man addresses the group, saying he's not an alcoholic. Jonas (Garrett Dilahunt) thinks he's able to bring them happiness. Jonas begins to chant in a foreign dialogue. A white glow emanates from his body. Everybody in the room, including Hicks, seems to be pulled into some kind of spell. At the gathering, Rachel hears everybody making fun of her for being with someone so young. When her father coughs, she is able to sense he is very sick and needs to go the doctor immediately. Instead, her parents yell at her for taking attention away from her sister during her engagement party.Hicks and Nina start kissing. He says he's finally figured something out and wants her to come with him. They travel to an estate where Jonas is preparing to speak to a gathering of thousands. Nina looks around at everybody. She is immediately uncomfortable and wants to leave. When Jonas arrives, a man grabs her and immediately puts her under the same trance.Rachel tries to explain to Gary why her father won't seek medical attention. He says she has to keep telling her father the truth until he gets it. With tears in her eyes, she agrees.Hicks and Nina garden on Jonas' estate. They look into each other's eyes and strip off each other's clothes. As they make love, a man on the grounds clutches his chest. He starts seizing and drops to the ground. Nina and Hicks tell Jonas they must get the man to a doctor. They convince Jonas that Rosen would understand.Rosen arrives at Jonas' compound. He finds a boy who tells him Jonas is "everybody's father." Jonas takes Rosen to his "patients," a room full of people lying in cots. Several need hospital care. At least one is dead. Jonas tells Rosen he helps people see the connection of all things. Rosen realizes he is an Alpha.Jonas takes Rosen to see Hicks and Nina, who are in bed together. They defend Jonas' "gift." Cellular signals are blocked so Rosen can't contact the outside world.Rosen tells Jonas his followers are suffering from Encephalitis Lethargica, a disease of the brain. He explains the neurological cause for what the people experience. Rosen continues to convince Jonas not to use his power on him, but tells him he needs to get the people some medicine. Jonas wants him to write a prescription and have somebody else pick up the drugs.Rachel goes to see her father. She tells him he has cancer in his throat and if he doesn't see a doctor he will die. She tells him if he doesn't see a doctor the following day, she'll come back.Rosen finds his car has been tampered with. Rosen watches Jonas say a few words before another of his followers is cremated. He tells Rosen this is how things have always been. It is up to him to change what happens.Rachel and Gary come to the office. Bill tells them Rosen still hasn't show up. They realize Nina and Hicks are also missing. Gary can't ping any of them, meaning they aren't near a cell tower.Rosen is finding the L-DOPA isn't helping Jonas' followers. Jonas tells him ever since he was young, people he's "gifted" have gotten sick. His father believed what happened was the darkness trying to steal back Jonas' gift and responded by purifying the congregation with fire. At least one member of the congregation has gotten better. When the man recovers, he tells Jonas whatever he did to him felt like a drug to which he could easily become addicted. Jonas leaves. The man tells Rosen he wants to go home.Gary figures out Rosen is probably at Jonas' house.Rosen finds Jonas has taken away the L-DOPA because it is robbing his followers of his gift. Jonas tells him the worst part of his gift is he can't experience it himself. He tells Rosen he must find another answer.Bill, Rachel and Gary arrive at the Jonas compound. Bill goes in alone, insisting the other two wait behind in the car. Nina spots Bill and uses her power to get Bill to give her his gun.Rachel and Gary call for DOD backup. Gary wants them to go in after him. Rachel says no.Inside the home Bill tells Jonas what to expect in terms of the forces coming.Jonas tells Rosen he was a mistake. Josen never should have brought Rosen here. Rosen tells him again his "gift" is killing these people. He says he finally understands what his father was taking about. They will all burn.We see Bill pouring gasoline around the home. He seems unable to use his alpha power. While Hicks pours gasoline, he falls to the ground in pain. Jonas tells Nina that Hicks has "been called."Rosen breaks into Jonas' desk to get the medicine. He finds a handgun in there as well.Jonas speaks to his followers while Rosen sneaks around giving people injections of medicine. Nina snaps out of it.She starts to help Rosen. Jonas begins to glow. Rosen sees what he is doing. Rosen shoots Jonas in the face. Jonas drops his torch to the floor. The house begins to burn.Everybody manages to get out. Rachel tells a shaken Rosen that Jonas' victims are all responding.Rachel's dad tells her his cancer should be treatable, since it is rarely caught so early.Hicks and Nina agree not to talk about what happened between them to the rest of the group.Rosen asks Bill (who still can't use his power) how the light felt. Rosen seems to feel like he should pay a price. Bill tells Rosen to aim for the chest next time. Rosen says that he was aiming for the chest!
9Blind Spot
We open with Rosen (David Strathairn) telling Bill (Malik Yoba) a Red Flag prisoner is being brought to their office. The Department of Defense has built a state-of-the art holding cell in the middle of the department, along with a new lock-down feature. Rosen is searching for a way to get Bill's ability back..Cameron (Warren Christie) and Nina (Laura Mennell) arrive with the prisoner, who has been sedated. When they leave the elevator it seems as if an unseen person was in there with them.Bill is sounding like he doesn't miss his power. They give the new patient an MRI.Nina told Rosen about what's been happening with Cameron. He told her that Cameron might be bad for her. She thinks he might have a point, since she's screwed-up every relationship she's ever had. Once the leave the room one of the computer springs to life. The MRI of their prisoner, obstetrician Dr. Kern (Brent Spiner), revealed he is blind (his optic nerve never developed). Rosen thinks this means he is an Alpha. Kern is there because DOD thinks he's been doing some research. They want to know why. They've seized a ton of information from Kern's office. We see Kern spring to life in a cell and look around. In another room, Rachel (Azita Ghanizada) senses something. She walks around, hears a fast heartbeat, but sees nobody.Kern tells Rosen and Bill he wants his lawyer. Rosen throws something at Kern's back. He ducks. Rosen says Kern must have sonar similar to a bat or a dolphin. Kern tells them: "this isn't going to end well."Cameron tells Rosen he'd like to have a little space with Nina. Rosen says he doesn't think he can "let it go,".They are interrupted by Rachel, who has news. She found active human DNA inside neonatal vitamins in Kern's office.Nina has a minor bloody nose.Kern tells Rosen the DNA he places in the vitamins is a counter-agent for pills designed to prevent birth defects -- like alpha abilities. They debate the dangers of the Red Flag organization. Kern said he sees a time when the "unenhanced" are able to join Red Flag. He thinks Rosen would fit right in. Kern seems disturbingly confident he isn't going to Binghamton.Rachel again senses someone bout doesn't see anybody. She follows the sense into the elevator where she is grabbed violently by an arm.Bill is having issues with the computer system. Nina tells them Rachel is missing. Gary (Ryan Cartwright) can't find anything. Using the security footage, they follow her to the elevator where she disappears. They find blood and drag marks near the elevator, along with a crack near the frame.Rosen asks Kern about Rachel's location. Kern said the number of heartbeats hasn't changed since he's arrived. When he says the number is eight, Rosen tells him it should only be seven. Kern asks if strange things have been happening around the office. Kern says they have an "unwelcome guest" and says if Rosen doesn't let him help them they are all going to die. With Kern yelling at a security camera to be let out in order to help them, the team discusses their options. Rosen talks to them about proprioception, the ability to sense things. He says there may be an alpha there whose ability to explore the blind spot of everybody's perception. Gary thinks the recent glitches in the cameras could also explain why they can't see this person. Gary turns on a different camera. They briefly spot a woman standing behind Cameron. Before they can react, she cuts him with a knife and activates the blast door. They are now locked in with this person.Nina patches Cameron up. Gary's phone is missing, as is Bill's gun. They hear shots and see bullets were fired at Kern's cell. He said the woman is named Griffin (Rebecca Mader). She doesn't work for Red Flag. Instead she's a mercenary who sells her abilities to the highest bidder. Kern thinks Griffin is after him and will kill of them to get to him.Rachel is bound and gagged in an air shaft.Rosen gives Bill a shot in order to kick-start his alpha ability in order for him to break through the blast door. It doesn't work. Rosen thinks they need to go on the offensive. They begin to randomly spray fire extinguishers and powder in order to flush Griffin out. She ends up locking everybody in a secure room beside Gary. We see her pull out a knife. At this moment, Rachel comes up from behind her and hits her over the head, knocking Griffin out. With Griffin in custody, Rosen asks some questions. She's been following Kern for two weeks. She tells them the cracks showing up in the beams and walks are the result of sonic vibrations sent out from Kern. She says she's working for someone interested in Kern's research.Cameron's knife wound has begun bleeding again. Rosen thinks the vibrations are to blame. More cracks begin to form. They start hearing rumbles. Kern tells them they have driven him to this point as the whole building begins to shake. Kern sets himself free as the team is knocked unconscious. He steps over them and leaves.Bill wakes up and helps lead everybody to safety. Cameron isn't doing very well. Kern interrogates Griffin, asking who hired her. The walls shake violently as Bill's powers return. He distracts Kern long enough for Griffin to stab him in the neck.As a payback for helping her, Griffin told Bill he better find out what "Stanton Parish" means. Bill mentions it to Rosen.Cameron kisses Nina.Rachel tells Rosen the in-house cell was a bad idea. Rosen tells her she saved all of them. Griffin is gone, along with the data on Kern's vitamins.
10The Unusual Suspects
Open with an younger man showing up to meet with an older man. The older man is surprised to see him saying "you're not with the committee" and "you're one of them, aren't you." The older man says something about some mistakes never going away before the younger man grabs him in the chest, which seems almost to turn the older man to stone. We see tactical teams taking Dr. Rosen and Gary into custody, followed by Bill, then Hicks, Nina and Rachel. All of them wake up in stark white individual holding cells that are designed to minimize their powers. Clay has brought them to Binghamton, telling Rosen they will stay there until he finds out "which one of you is the traitor."Clay tells Rosen that Sullivan ordered them brought in. Clay says that several scientists who were predecessors of Rosen's were killed the day before. They were killed using Alpha abilities and each received a call from Rosen's office hours before they died. Clay thinks there is a mole in the team. Rosen believes that he is being set-up by Red Flag.Clay interviews the team with an Alpha named Eric who specializes in body language analysis watching on hidden camera. He thinks Hicks is telling the truth when he says he had nothing to do with the men getting killed. He reads to Nina an unflattering report Rosen wrote about her. Gary is asked about his relationship with Anna. Clay asks Bill who he thinks is most likely to be a mole. A super-nervous Rachel tells Clay he might be turning friends into enemies. Clay decides they need to change the plan. The team is placed in the same room. Clay tells them if they don't figure out amongst themselves who is the traitor they will all be sent to Building 7, where the "worst of the worst" are held.Almost immediately the team starts to turn on themselves, with Bill mentioning the "calm guy" (in this case Hicks) is usually guilty. We learn that Eric was a former patient of Rosen's who used his ability to win poker games. Rosen fakes a back problem and writes a secret message for Rachel to find out the door code. A medical team is brought to work on Rosen and the team is placed back in their cells. The team manages to turn the tables on the guards and get loose. Clay calls for a lockdown but the team is able to move into the hallway and get past more guards. As they break through the exterior fence we see a sniper has them in his crosshairs. Clay orders him to stand down, saying they'll adjust their plan.Bill takes the team to a remote place that had been used by gun-runners. Bill tells them they're not leaving until they figured out who called. It sounds like Hicks was the only one who didn't read up on the doctors who were killed. Gary wants to call Anna and ask her, but nobody is interested. Rosen says he knows who the traitor is.Clay gets a call with information on their location.Rosen says he hopes the traitor will confess just as Gary tells them Clay is nearby. Rosen says that the only way he'll know the traitor is redeemable is if they confess. If not he'll turn them over to Clay.Clay arrives at the warehouse complex. They aren't sure which building and start a search.Rosen says that there have been secret deposits to Hicks' bank account totaling more than $300,000. Hicks makes a comment about them not understanding and that the money was for his kid. Rosen says he never should have let Hicks on the team and that he should have sent him to Binghamton a long time ago. Hicks punches Rosen. This sets off Bill, who begins fighting Hicks as he claims he didn't do it. Rosen seems to have a pretty significant nose bleed. Just as Bill is about to club Hicks with a cinder block Clay's team bursts through the wall. Rosen tells Clay "it's Hicks" and says he needs to get Gary out of there. Rosen hustles Gary into a car.Once Rosen and Gary leave Rachel notices that blood that fell from Rosen is the wrong type -- he's an imposter.Cut to the real Rosen waking up in a room someplace. On the walls are detailed pictures of his face. He pretends to be asleep when the man from the opening walks into the room. He puts his hands on Rosen in an attempt to kill him the way the older man in the opening was killed. But Rosen stabs him with a needle and avoids the death. The fake Rosen is attempting to get Gary to erase all of the files. It seems like his disguise is breaking down. While Gary works on deleting the files the real Rosen walks into the room: "Gary, step away from that man. He's not me."The fake Rosen is an Alpha whose ability is to change his appearance. He starts to break his disguise and Gary realizes who the real Rosen is. Rosen wants to figure out what is in the files this man doesn't want him to see and he moves towards the computer. The rest of the team arrives and grabs the shape-changer.Rosen's not sure what was in the files that the wanted to erase. Eric is going to be released soon and Clay wants him to occasionally work with Rosen. Rosen tells Clay he isn't happy with his methods. Clay tells him he should worry about Red Flag.Hicks says the secret account is his kid's college fund. He gets the money from baseball card shows. We see that something is wrong with Bill's heart and he drops to the ground as the episode ends.

She complains he used to manipulate her into bringing her mother tea when she was upset. Dani thinks it was taking advantage of her abilities as an empath.Gary tells Rosen about the meeting with Anna. He's discovered Stanton Parish has been alive for more than 100 years, seeming not to have aged in that time. A writing of his called "A Call for Change" is considered the Red Flag playbook.Rachel (Azita Ghanizada) figured out inside the necklace is a jump drive. On the drive is encoded language from Anna containing a map and a time -- it's an invitation to a meeting of some kind. It contains a quote from Parish, meaning this is a meeting called by the leader.Sullivan explains some of the tactical plan to move in on the meeting. Gary is worried about Anna, so Hicks says he'll look out for him. Bill also wants to participate.Rosen tells Dani the guys at this meeting are responsible for Will's death. When a member of the tactical team is killed, an all-out battle begins. Bill takes a bullet in his vest. His powers seem to return. Gary finds Anna. It looks as if she has been killed. In the aftermath, Gary blames himself for not being able to save Anna. The team doesn't seem to think it knows what it's doing. Rosen doesn't agree, telling them they followed their hearts.Sullivan tells Rosen the mission was "a win" and if Parish exists they'll get him. She says they've crippled Red Flag. The "powers that be" would like a meeting with Rosen in a week to discuss future strategy.Rosen and Dani have dinner. She says he can't imagine what he put her through. He says he wants her to do her thing and show him what he put her through. She takes his hand and shows him. He tells him to think about it.Rosen speaks before Congress about Red Flag. He says the situation has become unstable. Red Flag's leader is still out there. He tells them Binghamton is part of the problem. He tells them if they keep alphas in secret it will play into Parish's hands. Rosen calls for transparency and says alphas exist.
